Avdemshaugen is a property available to rent in North Gudbrandsdalen, about 3 km north of Lesja town centre. The cottage neighbours the well-known ‘Avdemsbue’, a magnificent shop which sells local products made by Avdem Gardsysteri, such as homemade cheeses and locally produced beer The space The cottage has 3 large bedrooms plus a sofa bed and 2 single bed. • The ground floor consists of a kitchen, living room, bathroom, bedroom and a wash room with fridge/freezer, washing machine and dryer. You can also find a wood store on this floor. • The 1st floor consists of a large living room with TV and access to a large balcony, 2 large bedrooms and a sofa bed. The property sleeps a maximum of 8 persons. The cottage is located on a hillside together with the old family house which is used privately as a holiday home for the owners. The property is fenced off and has a large yard with car parking spaces. It is a peaceful and child-friendly property. In the yard, you can make use of the large hanging fire pit for barbecues. RAUMABANEN. www nsb no/reisemal/regionstrekninger/raumabanen Behind the resort about 70 meters is the famous rauma track. Raumabanen Raumabanen is becoming more and more popular with tourists. A tour of the track gives you the opportunity to get close to the spectacular natural area between Åndalsnes and Dombås. The building of the Raumabanen started in 1912 and opened for traffic in 1921 from Dombås to Bjorli. In 1924 the track was officially opened by the King for scheduled traffic. For many years, Raumabanen was the main communication year for passenger and mail traffic between Møre & Romsdal and Oslo. The trip between Dombås and Åndalsnes is 114 km long and takes 1 hour and 40 minutes. The train crosses 32 bridges - including the famous Chicken Bridge, 59 meters above Raumaelven - and runs through 6 tunnels. The trains have large panoramic windows that allow you to enjoy the spectacular scenery, including Trollveggen, Europe's highest vertical mountain wall. During the summer it is nice to be a passenger on the Raumabanen: the train drives slowly past the most spectacular places so you have time to take great pictures, there is a picnic on Kylling Bry and at Trollveggen, you get guiding over the speakers and a map of the journey with information about the different places. Lesja is a mountain village with a dry climate. It is a friendly place with many opportunities for walking and fishing for trout in the river ‘Lågen’ down in the valley. You can find a few wooden lean-tos for use as picnic spots both in the forest and by the river. A lot of suggestions for walks can be found in the guest book. The guests can make use of the whole cottage, car park and hanging fire pit. If the guests have questions please get in touch with the owners. Guest access The guest has access to the entire guest house, parking and a fireplace. In the laundry room there is all of the linens, sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers and towels.. After use, remove and put in the laundry cans. There is a parking on the outside of the area, it is intended for 3 motorhome spaces and can not be used Other things to note • ‘Evening walk to Muspelheimen’ Muspelheimen is a stone hut built by teachers and students from Lyftingsmo School. It can be found above the Lyftingsåa river. A guest book to sign can be found in the hut. Walk north along the forest road, which can be found behind the train tracks. Walk to the end of the road, you can then follow a small path which after a while curves north. When you reach a bridge crossing over the river, you are there. You can barbeque in the fire pit. It is a magical place (‘trolsk’) for both children and adults. Have a good trip! • Walk to ’Plassetra’ There is a mountain dairy (‘seter’) which was in use in the old days. Now you can find a wooden lean-to which can be used for picnic. This is a nice track with marked paths, which is good as an evening walk. Walk north along the forest road until you see the sign ‘Plassetra’. Keep follow the track until you are there. In the winter times, we recommend using snow shoes. Safe trip (‘god tur’). • Walk to ’Lorkverna’ Lorkverna is a historical culture heritage. Lorkverna is open to everybody and has nice trails through the woods, restored houses, a wooden bridge over the river Lora, lots of cultural heritage, Lorfossen waterfall and several information posters. Drive E136 approximately 10 km west from Lesja centre and follow the signs towards Lordalsvegen and Lorkverna and parking. After 1km you will come to a cross road, take a left turn (not through the gate). Continue the road over a bridge. At the next cross road take a right turn. Drive for 3 km along a narrow road to a parking place. The trail is 1,2km to the restored mill. Nice to walk, cycle, pushing baby buggies, and to ski or on foot in the winter. For large vehicles, you can park at car parks along the Lordalsvegen. The closest one is 3,8 km from the gate and is signposted ‘Gml. Lorsagvegen’ (1 km long track to ‘Lorkverna’). The second one is about 4,6 km from the gate and is signposted ‘Lorfossen’ (1,5 km long track to ‘Lorkverna’). It costs 20 NOK to drive through the gate. Guided walk around Lorkverna; Friday-Sundays, 20th June – 20th August at 12-5pm. ‘Lorkverna’ is open all year around.
