Welcome to our cabin at Gaustablikk. The cabin is great even immediate proximity to the alpine, cross-country skiing and hiking terrain. The cabin was completed in 2021 and is very well equipped and here everything is set up for a great stay in the mountains with family and/or friends. The cabin contains a large living room/kitchen and there is plenty of space for 12 people. The kitchen is well appointed and well suited for cooking for many guests. 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, loft living room, spacious hallway and nice terrace with long table and barbecue. The space The cabin has a very good, central location in Gaustatoppen Nature Park in its own side road from Løkjestaulkilsvegen. There is ski in and out to the alpine slopes and cross-country trails, and the center area around the building. The cabin is located at approx. 960 masl in one of the new cabin areas in the popular Gaustatoppen Nature Park at Gaustablikk. Guest access 2x parking spaces 1x Electric car charger Other things to note Alpine skiing The ski resort at Gaustablikk is known for being snow-proof and for opening early every year. In recent years, the area has developed into a modern ski resort with offers for the whole family. The ski resort now has 35 slopes and 13 lifts including 2 express chairlifts. The longest downhill is 3.8 km, and the largest difference in altitude is 550 meters. For snowboarding and off-piste, the area around Gaustatoppen is recognized as a fantastic and extremely challenging terrain. The Gaustabanen now transports visitors all the way to the top of Gaustatoppen, and from the top it is possible to ski down several different slopes with varying degrees of difficulty, and not least to enjoy the view on the way down. Cross- country/ Langrenn: As a complete ski destination, Gaustatoppen and Gaustablikk also offer very good cross-country conditions. The area has approximately 90 km of prepared cross-country trails, divided into 17 trails that span all levels of difficulty from an easy beginner trail of 1 km to a proper alpine tour of 23 km. For the 2018/2019 season, a brand new illuminated trail was also built from Bygget, along and around Kvitåvatn, past the hotel and all the way into Vatnedalen. There are many opportunities to combine the trails and shape your own trip. The trails are well marked. The cross-country ski company in Gaustatoppen prepares all the trails every day throughout the season as long as the weather conditions allow it, and strives for high quality in the preparation. Gaustatoppen Gaustatoppen, which many believe is Norway's most beautiful mountain, towers over Rjukan with its 1883 meters above sea level. It is about 1,600 meters from the valley floor and up to the top. Every year, about 100,000 people take the trip up to Gaustatoppen to enjoy the spectacular views. In clear weather you can see east to the border with Sweden and south to the coast. The view shows over one sixth of Norway. Every day during Easter (and during the summer season) you can buy coffee, waffles and food in the Tourist Association's old stone cabin at the top. Gaustatoppen Tourist Cabin was built as early as 1893 from the mountain's own natural stone. Summer and autumn Gaustatoppen is at least as amazing in summer and autumn as in winter and spring. There is varied hiking and cycling terrain with opportunities for fishing, rowing or paddling down on Kvitåvatn or swimming in fresh mountain water. The Krossobanen is Northern Europe's first toboggan run from 1926 and is only about 20 km from the Gausta area along the road through Rjukan. At the top of the track at Gvepseborg you will find the gateway to Hardangervidda, the popular sun trail and some of the first cabins of the Norwegian Tourist Association. It is also important to mention that UNESCO's World Heritage listed Rjukan Industrial History and Vemork Power Station this year, and there is plenty of history and culture to get acquainted with through the museums and information boards in the surrounding area. Services The Gaustablikk area has a wide range of services. In addition to a ski resort with après-ski, ski rental, shop and restaurant, you have Gaustablikk Høyfjellshotell and further down the road Den Lykkelige Sportsmann Gjestehus which offers food and après-ski. At Gaustablikk ski resort there is also après-ski and restaurant, ski rental and Sport1 shop as well as the small grocery store Pose & Sekk, which has fresh bread in the winter season. It takes about 15 minutes to drive down to Rjukan, where there are several grocery stores such as Coop, Kiwi and Spar, Vinmonopol, the very popular Rjukanbadet, restaurants and shops. Gvepseborg café & restaurant as well as Rjukan Klatrepark, to which the great Krossobanen takes you from Rjukan, are also well worth a visit! Summer and autumn Gaustablikk is at least as amazing in summer and autumn as in winter and spring.
