The space Welcome to Great Edge, a traditional three bedroom Yorkshire country home set high above Warley with sweeping views across rolling Calder Valley countryside. Full of character and classic charm, this is a place for slowing down, switching off and settling into authentic rural life. Inside, the cottage is spacious, warm and comfortably furnished in keeping with its traditional style. The main sitting room is generous and inviting, with deep Chesterfield sofas, a wood burning stove and large windows framing the hills beyond. It is a proper gathering space after a day on the moors. A separate dining area offers room for long, relaxed meals together, while the country kitchen is fully equipped for hearty breakfasts and home cooked suppers, complete with oven, hob, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. Upstairs are three comfortable bedrooms sleeping up to six guests. The master bedroom features a king size bed and classic wooden furniture, with lovely views across the valley. The second bedroom is a bright and airy double, equally spacious and full of character. The third bedroom offers twin beds, ideal for children or friends. Two bathrooms serve the house, including a family bathroom with bath and shower over, plus an ensuite bathroom for added convenience. Outside, the setting truly sets Great Edge apart. The private hot tub sits perfectly positioned to take in panoramic Yorkshire views, ideal for soaking under the stars or enjoying a quiet morning coffee as mist rolls across the valley. Step out of the front door and you are immediately immersed in some of West Yorkshire’s finest walking country. The Winterburn is just a two minute stroll away, a proper hillside pub with panoramic views over the Calder Valley, known for real ales, home cooked food and a cosy log fire. A little further into Warley village, The Maypole Inn has been welcoming locals since the 1700s and is perfect for a relaxed pint or hearty meal without needing the car. For longer walks, Hardcastle Crags is around fifteen minutes away by car, offering ancient woodland, riverside trails and dramatic rocky outcrops. Ogden Water reservoir is even closer for a gentler lakeside loop, while Luddenden Dean provides twisting lanes, packhorse bridges and hidden waterfalls. Those wanting a bigger hike can head to Stoodley Pike for sweeping Pennine views, or explore Wadsworth Moor directly from nearby villages. For something flatter, the Rochdale Canal towpath offers easy waterside miles past old mills and stone bridges. The cottage also places you right in the heart of Sally Wainwright country. Fans of Happy Valley, Gentleman Jack and Last Tango in Halifax will recognise the dramatic hills, canals and stone villages that define this part of Yorkshire. Shibden Valley and Halifax feature heavily in the series and are within easy reach. Halifax, your nearest larger town, is home to the magnificent Piece Hall, an eighteenth century courtyard now packed with independent shops, live music and excellent street food. You can also explore Halifax Minster, wander Shibden Valley, or visit Shibden Hall, home of Anne Lister. Around twenty minutes by car lies Haworth, classic Bronte country, where cobbled streets lead to the Parsonage Museum and moorland trails stretch out towards Top Withens. Great Edge is ideal for families, walkers, couples and friends looking for space, scenery and a true taste of Yorkshire. Other things to note We kindly ask all guests to respect quiet hours between 10pm and 9am to preserve the peaceful countryside setting for neighbours and the surrounding area. Well behaved dogs are welcome, however they must remain downstairs at all times and are not permitted in the bedrooms. Cats are strictly not permitted at the property. The driveway is shared with the tenant who lives next door, so please park considerately. The driveway can accommodate up to three cars for the cottage, but access must be kept clear at all times. The driveway is slightly tight due to its shared nature, so larger vehicles should take extra care when manoeuvring. Please also note that access is required via the driveway for a lady who cares for the horses in the field next to the property. She may need to pass through during your stay, so it is important that the driveway remains accessible. Please note: Being in a beautiful rural setting, the neighbouring farm is home to horses and sheep.
