Camellia cottage

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Enjoy a relaxing drink sitting in the garden next to the brook and in the immediate vicinity of the ancient castle. The cottage is central in this small and friendly village and is grade 2 listed . Camellia cottage really is a chocolate box quintessential home , with roses around the door. It is characterful and comfortable with stone walls, a cosy fireplace and original beams. The village has a well stocked shop a great pub and a cafe too !! The space My cottage has a lounge area with a large loaf sofa and a captains chair - there is also window seating. This room has a wood burner which you are welcome to use - I will leave enough wood for an evening - you can buy wood at the shop if you should want more ( closes at 7 pm ) . There is a radiator which is on a timer . The kitchen leads on from the living room and looks out into the garden. The kitchen is basic as I am planning to renovate it. However it is clean and functional with an oven , microwave, fridge etc. as I live in the property I will clear an area in the fridge for guests and leave a shelf free on the wall cupboards for dry foods . The boiler is on a timer and heats up water for the bath and washing up etc . There is a utility room with a washing machine and an electric drying rack. This space is basic and contains an old but clean and functional downstairs toilet and sink. I keep a lot of DIY things in here . The garden has fabulous views and if the weather is permitting it is lovely to sit here and watch the nature on the brook and around the castle. Upstairs there are two bedrooms - the back room ‘castle suite ‘ is newly decorated - I have not put curtains in here as the view of the castle is so magical in the moonlight - there is a standing cupboard for personal storage. The front room ‘church suite ‘ has curtains and a chest of drawers which has 2 drawers empty for guests. This bed has an electric blanket . There is a door in this room that has a staircase leading to an attic space- this is for my personal storage and not available to guests. The bathroom is perfectly serviceable but also in need of renovation. The bath , sink and toilet are old pieces of furniture so may not look 5 star - however a can assure you the bathroom is clean and It has a new electric shower. Please be sure to turn the hot tap fully off in the sink as if it drips there will be no hot water !! There is a new radiator in the landing which is on a timer . This is an old property and has been my home for a year now. I absolutely love it and am in the process of lovingly restoring and renovating it . If you visit more than once you will experience the transformation. Since moving in I have replaced the entire roof , installed new radiators a wood burner and beautiful shutters. I have recently put in an oak floor in the living room and have decorated and recarpeted the upstairs hallway and stairs. The next job is to install a new bespoke kitchen and following that a new bathroom . I hope you enjoy staying in Nunney and enjoy staying In my home .
