Description

Sunny, romantic, utterly peaceful, 5 star 15th century cottage, secluded behind ancient hedges in the heart of Brewlands Estate, stunning views of the Cairngorm National Park, perfect for lovers. There have been lots of marriage proposals here; weddings and many honeymoons too! Fuel now included in rent. Perfect central Highland location for exploring Scotland. Edinburgh 90 minutes, 12 Munros within 50 minutes, hills on the estate up to 3000 feet. Great food, castles, distilleries. The space • Sleeps 2 • Ensuite super kingsize bedroom • Private Hot Tub with romantic lighting £85 • Idyllic Highland honeymoon cottage • Oil central heating and electricity included • Easy walking access as all rooms are on one floor • 2 well-behaved dogs welcome (£35 per dog payable on arrival). • Weekly changeover Saturday (short-breaks welcome off season) • Self-catered, partially or fully catered. Anything you want. We have an excellent estate chef. • Full concierge service For 300 years Cistercian monks spent half of the year at this peaceful place, making butter and cheese and brewing beer from the pure springs that continue to feed the cottage. From the main bed one can see the heather hill where the monks put their hives, and from where we still get honey today. The cottage sits between two ancient wild flower meadows; unploughed, unimproved, and protected, full of wild yellow violets and orchids. Lots of beautiful rare red squirrels live in the woods around the garden. Our own wild raspberries are so famous and our estate so unpolluted that the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew collected seeds 200 metres from Croftend, which are now stored against a future climate catastrophe in the World Seed Bank in an ice cave in arctic Norway Croftend has been authentically restored without compromising on serious comfort, retaining the enormous medieval fireplace (pot hooks intact), with a woodburning stove, original wood panelled walls and ceiling, and a solid oak floor, granite worktops and superking bed with ensuite power shower. This luxury self-catering Scottish holiday cottage can also be partially or fully catered and all of us would like the opportunity to make your holiday a truly happy one. Why not arrange to fish, (wild brown trout fishing on the River Isla is included in the rent), or ask our keeper to take you clay pigeon shooting, cycle round the glen (very little traffic), or just read by the fire while our chef prepares a romantic dinner? In winter, ski at Glenshee, the UK's most extensive ski area. In summer, golf at St Andrews, or at one of the 7 courses within 14 miles, BBQ on the south facing terrace, climb a munro - mountain over 3000 feet-( there are 12 within one hour’s drive)or walk the Cateran Trail, (we can arrange for you to be dropped off and picked up wherever you want), take a trip to Pitlochry with its tartan and cashmere makers and summer theatre, or to a salmon smokery. Alternatively visit distilleries like Macallan, Glenfiddich and Grouse, Balmoral or Glamis Castles or just wander along the river to picnic at a place beloved by Queen Victoria, where the Highland ponies like to come to cool down on hot days. • Sleeps 2 • Bedrooms 1 extra long superking bed, • Bathrooms 1 ensuite • Spacious open plan sitting room/ kitchen with tv and separate sitting room with TV and work station. • Easy walking access This gorgeous holiday cottage in Scotland, newly restored to a luxurious standard, is all on one level.
