Welcome to Cowshed, a beautifully converted, spacious, one-bedroom barn conversion in the market town of Moretonhampstead in Dartmoor National Park. Laid over two floors, the large bedroom is on the first floor with an original beamed vaulted ceiling, a seating area and balcony, ideal for a morning coffee or evening drinks watching the sun set. With double sofa bed. Downstairs is an open-plan living space, as well as a separate wet room. The modern, well-equipped kitchen has everything that you would need, and in warm weather sit outside in the private walled courtyard garden for al fresco dining. In the colder months, there is nothing better than snuggling up on the comfy sofas in front of the wood burner with a good book and a hot drink. The village is a 20-minute walk, where you will find a selection of shops, including a deli, bakery, butchers and greengrocer. If you don’t want to cook, there is a selection of pubs, cafés and a wine bar. Situated on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, the property is within easy distance of Exeter and is a fantastic base for exploring this part of Devon. The area is ideal for cycling on or off road, and there are plenty of quiet lanes and bridleways. If you prefer to explore and experience the beauty and wildness of Dartmoor National Park, Mortonhampstead is the perfect centre to start with walks available for all abilities, from a casual stroll to more strenuous wilderness walking. If you want to experience some history visit Castle Drogo, the last castle to be built in England and situated above the Teign Gorge. You can walk along the top of the gorge, visit the landscaped gardens and admire the inside of the castle. Also worth a visit is Moretonhampstead Motor Museum, home to over 90 vintage vehicles from Victorian horse-drawn carts to cars and motorbike from pre 1920 to the 1990’s, as well as having displays of motoring artefacts. This area attracts artists, and Green Hill Arts Gallery allows exhibitors to sell their work, from paintings, prints and ceramics to textiles and sculptures. You don’t need to venture far to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the area, just take each day one by one. For the less energetic, e-bikes are available. Pub within a mile.
