Quintessentially English thatched cottage getaway

The Garden Room is within the barn extension of our c17 thatched cottage. It has a special indoor/outdoor feel, with windows onto our traditional cottage garden and French doors to let the outside in. Located in the centre of the village, it is convenient for Cambridge (30 mins by car), for London escapes, for exploring the beautiful countryside and sights nearby, and for weddings at South Farm. Come and stay! The space The Garden Room is equipped with everything you need for an indulgent and rustic escape, combining pretty styling, soft bedding and exquisitely comfortable mattress with views along the thatched cottage and over the garden, directly accessed through your private entrance via French doors. Wander the lawn, smell the roses, take in the mini orchard, mini meadow, and veg patch and admire the rare (and very ancient) elm tree on the garden boundary. This is a space to feel every home comfort whilst enjoying a certain type of homespun tradition and soaking up the restorative power of nature. The luxurious bathroom is fitted with a deluge shower, towel rail and complimentary toiletries by Faith in Nature and The Retreat. We provide both robes and fluffy towels for every guest. Our Welcome Basket includes a range of teas, ground coffee, fresh milk and biscuits or cake. The Room contains a mini fridge, a limited selection of crockery essentials, cafetiere and elegant pour-over kettle. You're welcome to use our BBQ (see below), and at any time take a seat in any corner of the garden to listen to the birds, read or eat. BREAKFASTS: In the morning, sip your coffee in the privacy of your room, on a garden lounger, or even while lying in the hammock. Alternatively, by prior arrangement, we will deliver you a basket of breakfast items, including warm croissants, orange juice, fresh fruit and yoghurt to you at a time of your choosing. Or, you can breakfast inside the house, in the comfort of our Dining Room, with a home-made breakfast prepared by us and served at our dining table (see below for more details and additional fees). There is no TV (to help you to escape) but fast, free Wi-Fi and a comprehensive Library available for you to choose from. We also lend an array of local guidebooks and information, and are very happy to suggest days out to suit your mood and interests. Please note we have a no smoking policy throughout the premises. Guest access The Garden Room can be accessed directly from the street, and also from within the Cottage. You will be given keys to all entrances. You will have your own exits from the room onto the garden, via French doors, which open onto a raised lawn. The garden is a shared space but at any time you may take the opportunity to sit and listen to the chatter of birdsong, catch the occasional pink sunset over the thatched roof of the house, or lie in the hammock of a Monday evening and listen to the bell-ringing practice in the village church. Other things to note BREAKFAST OPTIONS We offer the following breakfast options. Please order by 3pm the day before and let us know if you have any particular dietary requirements. - Breakfast Basket, including croissants straight from the oven, freshly squeezed orange juice, granola, berries and Greek yoghurt, jam, chocolate spread and butter, delivered to your door at a time of your choosing: £14 per head. - Bumper Basket, including everything in the Breakfast Basket PLUS sliced Emmental cheese, Italian prosciutto and freshly baked baguette: £18 per head. - Proper Breakfast in the Dining Room, prepared by us according to a varying menu and served at the dining table: £25 per head. BBQ If you would like to cook using our BBQ, please let us know, so that we can ensure you have sufficient amounts of charcoal. AND FINALLY...
