Description
As featured on Channel 4’s “A New Life in the Sun” (Series 11, 2026). Casa Mariscal is a boutique B&B perched 800m above sea level with views of the Polopos mountains and the Mediterranean. Fully refurbished in 2025, we offer five uniquely designed private rooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom. Your private suite can be prepared with a King-size or twin bed setup (please request upon booking, subject to availability). Enjoy boutique comfort in a historic setting. The space The neighbourhood sits in the Sierra de la contraviesa (Alpujarra Baja), approximately 800 meters above the Mediterranean Sea. The B&B is perfectly positioned within the traditional whitewashed Spanish village of Polopos. The area is defined by “tranquillity” a quiet street environment, with a local Spanish bar serving drinks and tapa and Bar restaurant Julia serving drinks and food, a menu to suit all. The surroundings are known for agricultural heritage, including almond trees, figs, avocados and vineyards. During the spring, the landscape is famous for its “pink show” of almond blossoms. While serene, the location is described as best navigated with personal transport; renting a car is highly advised to explore the surrounding beauty. Guests can expect a “stunning” contrast between the rugged mountains and the “deep blue of the Mediterranean” visible from the house and the nearby ravines. Other things to note To ensure you have a seamless stay, please keep the following in mind: • The Landscape & Accessibility: Polopos is a traditional mountain village 800 meters above sea level. Please be aware that the streets are steep and narrow. Reaching the house involves a short but steep uphill walk; therefore, it may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility. The reward, however, is the breath-taking view from our property! • Stairs: While the common areas are on the ground floor, please note that all bedrooms are located on the upper floor, accessible only by a staircase (equipped with a handrail). • Coffee & Tea: For your comfort, a selection of tea and coffee is provided at the private station within your room. • Connectivity & Power: We offer high-speed WiFi. However, please understand that mountain weather can occasionally cause brief interruptions to signal strength or power. These rare occurrences are beyond our control. • Parking & Car Access: Visitors' Car Park: Located just below the main square. Before you reach the village, please follow the sign of visitors car park . Main Square: Closer to the house, but spaces are very limited (includes one disabled bay). Direct Access: We do not recommend driving to the front door unless you have a very small car, as the streets are extremely narrow and access is limited. • Quiet Hours: To respect our neighbours and other guests, we kindly ask you to keep noise to a minimum between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM. • Local Provisions (No Shops): There are no traditional grocery stores in the village, but you can enjoy local life at Local Social Baldomero (social venue/tapas bar) at the entrance or Bar Restaurante Julia in the square (with small corner shop). Mobile Markets: Part of the village charm is our visiting vendors! (please note that dates may be subject to change). Bakery: Every morning (Mon–Sat). Fishmonger: Tuesday and Friday. Fruit & Drugstore items: Wednesday. Fruit Lorry: Saturday. Butcher & Frozen Food: every 2 weeks.
