Hachijō-jima, an island located south of Tokyo. This is my beloved hometown, where my parents were born and raised, and where they returned to spend the rest of their lives after living in the city.Situated right next to the sea, this house is still filled with the sound of the waves and the pleasant ocean breeze that my parents loved.We opened this cherished home as “Chūnōya” to allow guests to experience island life. Sotome Port, just a short distance from the accommodation, is my favorite place, where I can truly feel that the island is alive.When I stood on the deck just after 8:00 a.m., a plane from Haneda Airport flew overhead, showing its “belly,” and from the horizon, the Takeshiba-bound Takemaru ferry was making its way toward us.Here, you will find the vibrant, island-specific daily life that you will never tire of looking at, no matter how long you gaze at it. Enjoy Asahino, Shimajushi, and Kusaya, then head out to climb Hachijō Fuji or take a historical walking tour.Sometimes, nature doesn't behave the way humans want it to, but that, too, is the true nature of this island. At night, you are surrounded by a sky full of stars and the sound of the waves, and in winter, you can spot whales from the hot spring.On this island, which showcases the richness of the four seasons, enjoy “island time” to your heart's content, with the same sense of security as if you were back at your parents' house. A: Depending on availability on the day, we offer complimentary early check-in after 12:00 PM.Please message me on the morning of your stay to check availability. Q: Is there an ocean nearby? A: Yes, it is a 3-minute walk to Sotokai Beach.There is nothing like taking a morning walk to the harbor and spending time watching the planes and boats. Q: Can I smoke? A: We are sorry, but smoking is prohibited throughout the property (including the balcony and the area around the entrance). Q: Will there be any mid-stay garbage collection during my stay? A: Yes, we are happy to accommodate that.If garbage has accumulated, please let us know by 5:00 p.m. the day before your desired check-out date, and we will come to collect it (schedule to be discussed). Q: Is cleaning included for longer stays? A: For stays of 7 days or more, we will provide one free room cleaning service every 7 days.We can discuss the schedule during your stay. [Please help save energy (regarding the air conditioner)] To protect Hachijōjima's limited resources and environment, please be sure to turn off the air conditioner when you go out.Your small acts of kindness can help protect this beautiful island. About the Island's Climate and Facilities Because of its location right next to the sea, the exterior and window frames are in an environment where they are susceptible to damage from the sea breeze.Also, since the weather can change suddenly, please be careful not to forget to close the windows when you go out.
