The Banana Bungalow A simple, cozy, fully screened stand-alone cabin with a river view. Guests who enjoy authenticity, privacy, and nature choose it again and again. Owned and hosted by Cheryl & Jeff, our property offers charming Belize Bungalows on the Macal River, just minutes from San Ignacio. Your comfort and satisfaction are our priority, ensuring an unforgettable stay at your ideal Belize River Lodge. The Banana Bungalow offers a King bed and a spacious private covered deck overlooking the river, complete with a hammock, dining table, and two Belizean hardwood lounge chairs, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploration. Guests have full access to our 1.5-acre property, including: Property Features • A genuine Mayan mound (pottery pieces can often be discovered; please leave them behind) • Guest laundry facility • Fruit trees, herbs & seasonal vegetables you’re welcome to pick River Access & Equipment The Macal River flows behind the lodge, and you’re welcome to enjoy: • 2 single kayaks • 1 double kayak • 3-person canoe • Innertubes Mornings offer the best paddling conditions before the dams raise water levels. Pick-up service for the river equipment is not available. It is not feasible to travel to San Ignacio on the river as there are no secure places to dock. Other things to note After booking, you’ll receive a short online Google form to collect guest information required by the Belize Tourism Board. Providing your email unlocks your personalized digital guidebook. LOCAL LIFE Cristo Rey is a small, vibrant jungle village. Expect: • Birds at sunrise • Occasional howler monkeys at night • Everyday village sounds (roosters, dogs, church music, etc.) HOLIDAYS Belize celebrations are wonderfully festive — often with several days of music, fireworks & gatherings. Noise-sensitive guests should be aware. UTILITIES As with any jungle location, occasional power or water outages can occur. We have backup generators & a water pump in place. Please turn-off all electronics, including fans, lights and A/C when not inside the bungalow. WI-FI Fast and reliable, with rare exceptions due to village or country-wide power outages. COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS We proudly support Pack for a Purpose and collect donated supplies and monetary donations for CAWS (Cayo Animal Welfare Society), and our village school. IMPORTANT TO NOTE: • Licensed accommodation (#HOT02078) • Mandatory 9% sales tax • No gratuity charges • We are a completely Smoke/Vape Free property. Smoking/Vaping is allowed outside the property boundaries only. • No open flames near or in the bungalows TRAVEL INSURANCE We recommend guests purchase travel insurance through Airbnb for peace of mind.
