Welcome to Hammermessa – a historic guest house near Sunndalsøra city center! Here you get a private room with private bathroom, free parking and access to large common areas such as kitchen, dining room, coffee bar and fireplace room. The building is newly renovated and appears bright, clean and functional, with a quiet location and spectacular views of the mighty Sunndalsfjella. Hammermessa is an affordable place to stay – perfect for those who are on business trips in the area, or want to explore nature! The space History and construction Hammermessa has a long history as a workers' fair for Norway's watercourse and energy directorate. After standing unused for several years, the house is now completely renovated and reopened to guests. The building accommodates a total of 17 guest rooms – seven with private bathrooms, and ten that share four newly renovated shared bathrooms. The common areas consist of a large kitchen, dining hall, coffee bar and a cozy fireplace room with great views. Services Hamarmessa is mostly unmanned, but cleaners stop by regularly, as well as at check-in and check-out. For long term stays, the rooms are washed and bed linen changed weekly. The rooms are finished up and towels are supplied. The final cleaning is included in the price. We have a self serve coffee machine at the bar, with free coffee and tea. Resident environment Half of the rooms are currently rented on a long-term basis to workers in Sunndal, both from Norway and abroad. It provides a sober and international living environment, characterized by people who get up early and have a quiet everyday life. As a short-term resident guest, you will have both privacy and opportunity to meet other travelers in the common areas. Location Hammermessa is centrally located in Sunndal, about 2 km from the city centre. From here you are a short distance to shops, service offerings and transportation, while staying with spectacular views of the mountains. By car you can easily reach both fjords and mountains – Innerdalen, Åmotan, Eikesdal and Dovrefjell are all within an hour's drive. Activities in the area - Mountain hikes: Sunndalsfjella offers some of Norway's most dramatic peaks and valleys. Innerdalen is known as "Norway's most beautiful valley". - Fishing and nature: Rivers and fjords provide great fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities. The marina is only a short walk away, and there are good fishing opportunities from the quay facility just below the house. - Culture: Sunndal Culture House has regular events, and in the region there are small museums and historical sites. - Work and Industry: For those traveling for work, Hydro Aluminium Sunndal and other industrial companies are nearby. The industrial area is within walking distance of Hammarmessa. Hammermessa is suitable for those who want an affordable and convenient base in Sunndal, whether you are here for work or vacation.
