Andalusian Country Retreat
Description
Unwind in a hand-crafted rural apartment set among olive groves. Enjoy the seasonal shared pool, spacious stone patio, and starry nights. Inside: a cozy fireplace lounge, open-plan kitchen, sofa bed, and king-size bedroom. Just 12 mins from Montefrío, perfect for nature walks, cycling, or simply relaxing in serene surroundings. The space Our cottage is set in the Andalusian countryside, surrounded by olive groves and rolling hills. We’re just 12 minutes from the picturesque white village of Montefrío, 30 minutes from the castle of Alcalá la Real, 40 minutes from Priego de Córdoba, 1 hour from Granada and its Alhambra, and 1.5 hours from Málaga or Córdoba. Seville can be reached in about 3 hours, making this an ideal base for day trips. The cottage has been lovingly restored by the owners, preserving its rustic Andalusian charm while echoing the Moorish history of Montefrío and its castle. From May to September, guests can enjoy the shared swimming pool. If you’d like to visit the Alhambra in Granada, we recommend booking tickets online well in advance. Another popular activity, the spectacular Caminito del Rey hike (1.5 hours away), also requires prior reservation. Once you arrive, we will provide you with hiking and cycling recommendations, and tell you about the best places to eat. Before your arrival, we’ll send detailed directions and a map to help you find us (we’re also listed as Cortijo Berruguilla). Closer to your stay, feel free to contact us with any special requests or questions—we’re happy to help you plan your holiday. Guest access Guests stay in spacious semi-detached apartments, each with a private entrance, outdoor area, and BBQ for peaceful relaxation. The swimming pool is shared but never crowded, as the property hosts a maximum of four guests. From the house, you can set off on scenic countryside walks or ask us for hiking recommendations tailored to your ability. Depending on the season, you may enjoy fresh local produce: artichokes in April, cherries in late May and early June, figs and grapes in late August, and our own almonds and walnuts. Guests are also welcome to taste olive oil from our land—and take some home if they like it. Other things to note A car is essential for getting around the area. For those who wish to explore on two wheels, we can recommend local bicycle rentals. Nearby attractions include La Mota fortress in Alcalá la Real and the family-run Bodega Viñedos y Bodega Marcelino Serrano, which offers wine tastings. We’re also just 1 hour from the Vía Verde del Aceite hiking and cycling route and 1.5 hours from the Sierra Nevada ski lifts and nature reserve.
