Mortafond is a charming French farmhouse ideal for families, friends & relaxing getaways. Tucked away in a peaceful hamlet beneath endless Charente skies and surrounded by vineyard views. The space From November through to the end of February, the property will be available exclusively for long-term stays, with a minimum stay of 30 nights. Included in the monthly rate: Electricity, water, and other standard household bills Bed linen and bedding are provided Please note: There is no housekeeping or cleaning service provided during the stay. Laundry service is not included. Guests are responsible for washing their own clothes, towels, and bed linen during their stay. Guests are expected to keep the property clean and tidy throughout their stay. The property is intended for guests looking for a comfortable home for an extended stay during the winter months. The property will be offered on a 30-night minimum basis only during this period. Shorter stays will not be accepted. The House This high-quality, private, and spacious farmhouse sits within its own enclosed walled garden, offering complete privacy and a true sense of retreat. Recently fully renovated, it has been carefully designed with families and couples in mind. Built from warm, buttery Charente stone and framed by traditional maritime blue shutters, the house faces south — simply open the shutters and sunlight floods the rooms. We can do your food shopping before your arrival or deliver everything you need for a first night barbeque. There will always be a supply of the basics – washing up liquid, soap powder, toilet roll, soap, salt & pepper, olive oil – so no mad dash to the supermarket will be required when you arrive. And we’re a family of cooks, so the kitchen is very well equipped. Guest access The beds are comfortable, the towels are large, the TV has all the UK channels, the WiFi is great and the house is situated in France's sunniest region - a perfect recipe for a relaxing escape! Guests have exclusive access to the entire farmhouse and its enclosed walled garden for the duration of their stay. The house is entirely yours to enjoy — indoors and out — offering complete privacy and space to relax. You’ll have full use of all living areas, bedrooms, kitchen facilities, and outdoor spaces. The property is self-contained, and there are no shared areas. The property also comes with its own one acre field for you to enjoy - with kids or pets for kite flying, picnics or play. For local rides there are a range of bikes available in the garage that guests are free to use – 3 adult bikes (men’s), 3 adult bikes (ladies’ or teenagers’), a child’s bike and a tag-along. More committed cyclists may wish to hire bikes from Bike-Hire-Direct who offer free delivery of bikes to L’Échappée Douce along with a range of support services. They get very busy in peak season so please book as early as possible. Other things to note The farmhouse is located in a peaceful rural hamlet. While this offers wonderful tranquillity, a car is essential for exploring the surrounding countryside, vineyards, and local markets. As with many traditional stone houses, the property stays naturally cool in summer and retains warmth beautifully in cooler months. Rural France offers dark skies and wonderful quiet — you may occasionally hear distant farm activity depending on the season. Mobile reception can vary depending on your provider, but excellent WiFi is available at the house. We kindly ask guests to respect the peaceful nature of the hamlet and our neighbours during their stay.
