Description
Ardvergnish Cottage is a stunningly remote place to escape to on the beautiful Isle of Mull. A haven for wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers, you only have to step outside the door to see hen harriers, curlews, and sea eagles. The deer go down past the house in the evening to feed on the marsh, joining the otters who live there. It is centrally located for exploring the island in every direction. The space Set in a stunning location at the foot of Ben More, the Island's sole Munro, Ardvergnish Cottage is an ideal base for walkers, holidaymakers, birdwatchers and wild swimmers. This cosy cottage has been refurbished to a high standard in 2018 and is warmed by efficient electric heating. There is a balcony room with a super-king bed, and downstairs a small twin room & bath/shower room. The kitchen is very well equipped, and leads to a spacious sitting/dining room. There is a porch, a private outdoor area with a bbq and picnic table and parking on site. Check our I-gram page ardvergnish_cottage! The cottage is a private extension to a family holiday house (often empty out of summer season). It has a lovely view up Glen More where deer can often be spotted grazing. The estuary to Loch Beg lies below the house and the Loch is a 10 minute walk, where otters and hen harriers are regularly seen. We love having dogs to stay (maximum 2), but we hope you'll understand we have to charge a small one off fee of £15 to make up for the extra time it takes to clean. Please do not allow them on the furniture or beds, and do not leave them unsupervised in the house. We can provide a big dog cage, or they can be left in the porch. We have just added a porch to the front of the house (Feb 2019) which is perfect for muddy boots and drying soggy dogs before they come into the house. Checkout our I-gram page ardvergnish_cottage Guest access The Cottage is behind the white house seen in the main photo. Although the cottage is attached to the main house, it is totally private and has its own private entrance, garden and parking area. Our family members or guests may be staying in the main house during your stay. N.B. Bedroom 2 with the Superking bed is up the set of stairs that you can see in the photos of the living room. Bedroom 1 with 2 single beds is on the ground floor opposite the bathroom. It is a small room with floorspace only between the beds. Other things to note N.B. Please note that there is a small river 100 meters behind the cottage. It is very beautiful and lovely to walk along, but is a hazard to children and pets. DOGS - We absolutely love having well behaved dogs to stay, but I am afraid we have to charge a one off charge of £15 to help cover the extra time it takes to clean the cottage ready for the next guests. If you want to bring a dog or two, let me know when you book and we will send you a payment link through the Airbnb resolution centre requesting the extra payment. I’m afraid we can’t have more than two dogs to stay at a time. There is Wi-Fi at the cottage, but as you can imagine, getting internet to the property was a challenge! We therefore have satellite internet which is slow and capped so we ask you to use it only for emails and messaging, and do all your downloads before you arrive. We feel the limited internet is a positive, making the cottage a perfect place to switch off from busy life. The sitting room does have Freesat TV + a DVD player with a selection of classic films for those cosy nights in! COVID - Due to Corona Virus the cottage must be deep cleaned every changeover and must comply with the government rules. Our cleaning charge is normally £90 per stay, but due to the extra hours of cleaning we have been forced to increase our cleaning charge to £120 per stay. We hope you understand. We have introduced much stricter and deeper cleans between all guests. We hope this will reduce any risk of infection between bookings. However, we also request the follow from all guests: 1) To allow for a deeper clean between guests, please do not arrive before 4pm. We advise guests to arrive as late as possible. Please check out no later than 10am. This allows housekeepers to safely enter the property. 2)Please get a Lateral flow test before you come, if at all possible, so you can be sure not to be bringing Covid to the island. If anyone in your group has Covid symptoms (high temperature and/or cough) the week before travel, please stay at home and self-isolate. Contact the NHS immediately and request a Covid test. If you have a positive test, you will need to cancel your trip. If you have a negative result you can carry on with your reservation. 3) If anyone in your group develops symptoms during your stay, you must vacate the property and return home immediately. Please inform us promptly so a full decontamination clean can be carried out. Under no circumstances can the cottage be used for self-isolation. 4) Please follow all government guidelines for the entire duration of your stay. These are subject to change at any time so please keep up to date with local and national news. 5) Please be extra vigilant with hand washing, both at home and on days out. We have provided lots of hand soap at the property.
