shepherd's hut in Somerset
shepherd's hut in Somerset
Description
Tucked away within four acres of Somerset countryside, Fern is a beautifully restored shepherd’s hut designed for slowing down. Here, luxury feels considered - soft linen bedding, bespoke handcrafted ceramics, and nature at your doorstep. Wake gently, sip coffee in the morning stillness, listen to birds, and spend your days moving at a softer pace. With a private garden and wood-fired hot tub, this is a place to reconnect - with nature, with each other, and with yourself. The space Walking distance to Babington House, Vobster Quay, and Mells. Set within our small, peaceful glamping site, Fern is one of a handful of thoughtfully created stays - but feels entirely its own. Inside, every detail has been chosen with care: Girls Who Grind coffee and a French press for unhurried mornings, bespoke ceramics from a local potter, and a calming palette designed to help you fully switch off. The bed is dressed in luxurious linen, with a gentle sleep spray to ease you into rest. The compact kitchen is fully equipped (double hob, kettle, toaster, coffee press), and the hut includes a private bathroom with a mains shower, loo, fluffy towels, natural toiletries and a hairdryer - so you can enjoy comfort without compromise. Step outside and the pace slows even further. Look out across rolling hills, often dotted with roaming sheep, or spend time in your private garden, abundant with greenery. Light the wood-fired hot tub, cook over the Ooni pizza oven, or simply sit wrapped in blankets beneath dark, star-filled skies. There are footpaths from the land to wander - and a hill perfect for sunset views. Meanwhile a much-loved country pub is just a 30-minute walk across fields. Bikes are available to hire if you’d like to explore further. Whether you spend your time exploring Somerset’s creative towns, farm shops and walks, or simply stay put and read, rest and reset - Fern is an invitation to live more slowly. Guest access Fern sits just beyond the old village pub (now privately owned), with easy parking in the pub car park. From there, you’ll find the hut tucked behind the building. Enter through the gate into your own private garden with outdoor seating and a greenhouse to explore. The land stretches up to your own hill with breathtaking sunset views and connects to public footpaths. The shepherd’s hut, garden and wood-fired sauna are all exclusively yours, offering a secluded, peaceful setting. Other things to note Fern is part of a gently evolving, family-run space. We’re a family of five, slowly restoring the land to create a place where people can come to reconnect - with nature, seasonal rhythms, and a slower way of living. You may see us tending the garden or exploring with our three boys, but we always respect your privacy and space. If you need anything, we’re nearby and happy to help - otherwise, we’ll leave you to fully unwind.
