The Old Malt Store, Knighton, Powys

This special place was a former Malt Store dating back to the 17th Century and has been recently converted retaining many original features and reusing some original materials. Within the apartment you will find all mod cons. It is centrally located, in a quiet mainly residential street, with free, unlimited on-street parking. There is a launderette just across the road. The space The Old Malt House is accessed from Church Street, Knighton. There is on-road parking outside. There is one step up to the door level, with an inset doormat and a further 5 steps up into the property with a handrail, leading into a large open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen. Adjacent to the front door is a seat unit, with coat hooks and shoe/boot storage, so that you can remove your muddy walking boots and dry them with ease. The lounge area has two large two-seater sofas, that are hand crafted (by the expert upholsterer next door), with a matching foot rest. Both sofas are near to the wood burner, which adds a cosy atmosphere to the room during winter evenings. There is a wooden chest to the left of the wood burner containing everything you need to light the wood burner. Behind the lounge area is a dining table and 4 chairs and the kitchen area which also includes a slimline dishwasher for your convenience, a hob with 2 ceramic hotplates and a standalone induction hob, an electric oven, a microwave oven and a fridge. There are cooking implements a plenty, to enable you to purchase the locally produced organic vegetables from Rhos Market Garden or locally sourced meat from Andrew Pugh Butchers. There is a 40 inch smart TV that operates from the internet. It is fixed to a trolley in the hallway to the bedrooms. There wasn't an obvious place to put the TV, so it can be wheeled and positioned wherever is convenient for you to view it. The front bedroom has a blackout blind, double bed with pocket sprung mattress, chest of drawers and a comfortable chair. There is also a bedside table and a touch light to each side of the bed. The back bedroom also has a blackout blind, double bed with pocket sprung mattress, wardrobe, bedside tables with a lamp, a wall mounted smart internet tv, an easy chair and a desk space. There is an additional blanket for each bed. The shower room is located in between the bedrooms and also has an electric towel rail and fan. We provide a bath sheet and hand towel for each person's stay along with a stepping out mat. Guest access You have access to all of the building, except the loft, which will be locked. Other things to note Knighton is a market town and community on the River Teme in Powys, Wales. It is located on the England–Wales border, and a small part of the town, including its railway station, lies over the border in the Shropshire parish of Stowe. Knighton is located on Offa's Dyke, the ancient earthwork that divided the two countries of England and Wales. It is the centre point of the Offa's Dyke path and houses the Offa's Dyke Centre. From Knighton you can enjoy the many walking trails, whether it be the Offa's Dyke path or the Glyndwr's Way. You can venture into Herefordshire and follow the black and white village trail, taking a scenic drive through the black and white villages of Pembridge, Weobley, Eardisland etc. Visit historic Ludlow in Shropshire, just 19 miles away, famed for its beautiful buildings, regular markets, castle and food - there is a daily bus to Ludlow from Knighton. Other places to visit include Llandrindod Wells, Victorian Spa town (again accessible by train), Newtown, famous for it's Welsh textile history, Leominster another town with some beautiful buildings and a little further afield the county towns of Hereford and Shrewsbury (you can take the train from Knighton into Shrewsbury in less than an hour). Knighton itself has a number of local pubs some of which serve food every day, some nice cafes/tea rooms and 4 take-aways - Knighton Plaice Fish and Chip shop, Chandos Kebab House - both of which also do home-made pizza, Mandarin Garden Chinese take-away and Saffron Indian Restaurant and take-away, if you don't want to cook!
