Cabin in San Agustín Lanquín
Cabin in San Agustín Lanquín
Description
Queen-bed casita made with all-natural materials, so you get a full nature experience! Fall asleep to the sounds of frogs and crickets. Enjoy meals in our cafe, sign up for a cacao tour, and become friends with our amazing team. Breakfast is included!! This is a regenerative center where you can learn about ceremonial cacao production, land regeneration, etc. If you want a cultural and nature immersion, this is the place for you. The space Tuqtuquilal is a cacao production center and regenerative land project in the forests of Lanquin, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. It’s not a resort, and it’s not a retreat center, it’s a real place where people live, work, and care for the land together. And you're invited to come and experience it! This land has been stewarded by local Q’eqchi’ Maya families for generations and for the last 8 years, Tuqtuquilal has supported those families through regenerative agriculture, dignified work, and the continuation of cacao as a cultural and ecological practice. When you stay with us, you’ll be surrounded by fruit trees, native forest, flowers, birds, and the rhythms of farm life. Mornings might include fresh cacao, walking the land, or quiet time in nature. Some days are slow and quiet; others are active and communal. You may see fermenting, drying, toasting or peeling cacao depending on the season. Our accommodations are comfortable but intentionally simple, designed to be in relationship with the land. We have compost (non-flush) toilets to create additional natural fertilizer for our fruit trees. Expect nature — sounds, insects, mud when it rains, stars at night. Tuqtuquilal is best suited for guests who are curious, respectful, and want to immerse in nature and culture. It's ideal for people who value learning where food comes from, who appreciate intercultural dialogue, and who feel nourished by being close to the earth. By staying here, you’re directly supporting local families, regenerative farming practices, and a long-term vision of land stewardship rooted in reciprocity rather than extraction. IMPORTANT NOTES: Breakfast is included in your stay! Lunches and dinners can be purchased separately and coordinated on arrival. We are a substance-free property! Please do not consume drugs or alcohol here during your stay. Smoking is only allowed on the street in front of the property. We offer a 2-hour cacao tour (property tour & chocolate-making) which we highly encourage guests to sign up for! It's at 9am Mondays-Fridays, Q150 ($20) per person. Compost (dry) toilets and solar-powered showers are shared and located OUTSIDE of cabins, a few steps away. Our property is located right next to a clean, rushing river which is amazing for cold plunges and afternoon swims. We are located just 25 minutes from Semuc Champey and 10 minutes from the Lanquin caves. We can help you arrange a tuk tuk to get there. Guest access You are welcome to use our various platform spaces for stretching or yoga, the cafe space, hammock areas, and walk the many trails around the property. Other things to note We are an ecological center so we never spray pesticides, that means you will see bugs during your stay here. We suggest bringing natural bug repellent if you are sensitive! Our property is located on the mountainside near a road -- if you're a sensitive sleeper, we suggest bringing earplugs to block any noise from the road that can start in the early morning.
