🧳 Stopover no. 31: Welcome to one of the Homnest retreats, close to Escouloubre and in the heart of the Aude. Your lodge welcomes you in a dazzling natural setting, among imposing peaks, majestic forests, and thermal springs. Nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees, it offers privileged access to the landscapes of the Pays de Sault and the surrounding hiking trails. An ideal place to explore, reconnect with nature or simply enjoy the calm and authenticity of the place. The space . Located at Frédérique and Thomas', your Homnest hosts, the refuge has all the amenities in 10 square meters perfectly optimized for immersion in nature: 🏡 AMENITIES • Sleeping area: one queen size bed 160x200 cm (2 adults) • XL panoramic view of the surrounding nature • Gas stove heating • Ceiling fan to cool off (no air conditioning) • Dining area with small table, stools • Dishes and condiments • Walk-in shower with hot water (opening seasonally) • Eco-friendly toilet (dry toilet) • Blackout shades • Bed made upon arrival • Outdoor furniture (except winter): table, chairs & Chilean (No grilling) • Drinking water via an 8L fountain • Tap water: Do not drink water from the faucets, which is not drinkable (tank) • Soaps, towels, and bedding provided • Housekeeping included • Free parking ✓ Lockbox available in case of late arrival ✓ Check-in: 4:00 PM after 4:00 PM ✓ Check-out by 10am 🔥 HEATING • Thanks to its powerful stove, your refuge becomes a real warm cocoon, even when cold winter temperatures are rife outside. Within minutes, an enveloping heat spreads throughout the lodge. A soft and comforting atmosphere, perfect for a book by the fire or just gazing at the soft orange flames. 💨 CEILING FAN • A ceiling fan, whose speed you can adjust, will give you a feeling of coolness in bed in summer (no air conditioning) 🧂🥣 DINING AREA • Insulated cooler to store your food in the cool • Electric hot water kettle (coffee, tea, soup, etc.) • Dishes, silverware, utensils, and condiments • Sink with water reserve to do dishes, wash hands, etc. • Drinking water via an 8L fountain • Small table and stools Note: There is no cooking or heating food in the space. Our guests prefer mixed salad-style meals, but also the on-site catering offered by your host or local restaurants. 🚿 SHOWER AREA / WC • Walk-in shower with hot water (opening seasonally) • Eco-friendly toilet (dry toilet) • Eco-friendly towels and shower gel are provided Note: The shower is only open during the warm season, from +/- April 1 to +/- October 31 (dates changing depending on the weather). When the shower is closed, the sink inside the unit allows you to briefly wash your toilet with gloves, soap, and cold water Current shower status: OPEN ✅ 🥐 MEALS On the catering side, extra charge and by reservation at least 48 hours before your stay (then depending on availability after this time), your hosts offer you local products and delivered to your refuge: • An aperitif basket (€25 for 2 people) • Breakfast (€10 per person) 💡 GOOD TO KNOW: The refuge is installed in nature and fully self-contained: electricity is produced by solar panels, the heater runs on gas and the running water is stored in a tank. You have all the usual comforts, but the idea of an alternative habitat is also to become aware of its impact on the environment! As a result, a few rules are required during your stay: 1) Except phones and laptops, electrical appliances other than those provided on site should not be connected at the risk of damaging the solar system. It is therefore not possible to use, for example, your hair dryer, a straightening iron or a raclette machine 2) The risk of fire being very high in nature, it is strictly forbidden to smoke in and around the shelter, but also to light any flame (no barbecue) 3) Sewage is filtered by plants: you are asked to only use the 100% natural products provided (shower gel, dish soap) 4) No pets allowed in the shelter Guest access . The shelter is located on the land of your hosts, who live and work on site. So you may come across them during your stay There's no wifi in the listing The entrance to the refuge is not on one level, it has a small staircase of 3 steps.
