Quiet, secluded cabin in a stunning serene setting overlooking the Uwharrie River, set on 110 acres of forested and pastured land of “Back to Earth Farm”. The best spot on the property is on the cabin porch watching the river roll by. If you are looking for a place to get away in nature, relax, and rejuvenate, you have found it! Once you get here and take a deep breath, you will never want to leave! Lay in the hammock on the porch by the river listening to the sound of water falling over rocks, and soak up the peace and tranquility. Meander along the forested walking trails around the property and enjoy the wildlife, flowers, plant life, and beautiful sitting areas. Have a picnic, fish in the pond, swim in our pool, kayak, visit the bees, walk the orchard, find all the bird houses along the walking trails, or go star gazing at the open sky and beautiful stars at night. These are just some of the on property offerings at “Back to Earth Farm”. We are sorry but for a variety of reasons, no pets allowed. If you are interested we also offer different levels of farm tour experiences on the airbnb experiences app. From little kids farm tour, regenerative farming and healthy living, to being a farmer for 1/2 a day. You can sign up there or just let me know what you are interested in and timing and we will do our best to make it happen. The cabin is hand-crafted from pine and cedar and is an amazing piece of architecture. The smell of cedar wafts by as you walk in the door. Although we call it a “cabin”, because it is made with all kinds of wood and sits by a river in the forest, one of our visitors called it the Ritz Carlton of cabins. It has all the conveniences of a home, but with the peace and serenity of living in nature. It has 2 bedrooms, a bath, living area, dining area, full kitchen, heating and air, fireplace, TV, wireless, internet, wraparound lower porch, 2 upstairs porches, and a 2 car covered car port. One bedroom is downstairs with a king bed. The upstairs bedroom is a loft area with 2 single beds and a queen bed. The bathroom is downstairs with a shower, no bath tub. It can comfortably sleep 6. It is fully furnished, including a fully equipped kitchen with a full-sized fridge, new oven and stove top, a French press coffee/tea maker, and a blender (perfect for breakfast smoothies!) The kitchen is equipped with dishes, silverware, and pots and pans. The eating area has a large table (hand made by me) with benches and 2 chairs on the end. It can comfortably seat 8. It includes complimentary coffee and tea. All linens and towels are provided. We also provide shower gel, shampoo and hair conditioner so you don't have to pack these bulky items! I would caution that the upstairs has open stairs and a walkway to an upstairs porch area, so while architecturally stunning and sturdy you may only want older kids up there. The cabin is not child proofed. Tom and Janice The cabin is a stand-alone building that is located approximately 1/2 mile on a graveled road from the main house around a bend and in the forest by the river. It cannot be seen from the main house and is very secluded. We live in the main house. You also have access to the other 110 acres which includes a fishing pond with dock, river, and walking paths around the property. We have a pool at the main house, pool house, towels, and pool toys that you are welcome to use during your stay. The pool is open approximately June through September. Just ask me if it will be available if you are arriving a little before or after these times as it mostly depends on the weather. We cover the pool in winter. We also have 2 one person kayaks available for use on the pond. We have vegetable gardens in summer, composting areas, chickens, and cows which provide us fresh vegetables, eggs, and meat. Depending on the season there may be plenty to share. There is a charcoal grill in the carport area for your use, and if you would like to make your own farm to table meal we have all cuts of grass fed beef available for purchase. You do not have access to the main house or other facilities such as the barns, carriage house, and sheds. The property has exterior and interior electric fencing. Whenever possible, we enjoy meeting our guests but that depends on what you prefer and our schedule. If you let us know you are interested we can arrange a farm tour that suits your interests or we can see what works out when you get here. Other than that, you may occasionally see us working on the land, but we are never more than a phone call or text away if you need us. If you want to include a variety of activities during your stay, there are numerous activities available off property. We are located in what is called the Central Park area of North Carolina. Named this because, although we are nestled in the forests and pastures of the ancient Uwharrie mountains and near sparkling lakes, we are also located in close proximity to metropolitan areas such as Greensboro, Winston/Salem/, Charlotte, and Raleigh/Durham. We are closest to Asheboro, NC, about 8 miles, and 14 miles from the North Carolina Zoo which is an amazing zoo on 550 acres, and 5 minutes from golf. We are 5 minutes from one of the 2 Mike Strantz designed golf courses in North Carolina - Tot Hill Farm Golf Club. We are next door to hiking in the Uwharrie National Forest, and close to a large pottery region in Seagrove, NC. We are just an hour away from the famous Pinehurst golf courses and resort, and near outdoor recreational activities, cultural recreation, beautiful scenic byways, and historical sites. Or you can go to the nearby metropolitan areas and find whatever you are interested in. If you would like help creating an itinerary, Janice would be happy to give you ideas. We are 8 miles away from a city so a car is necessary to get here or visit anything. If you stay on property for all your activities, you can walk most anywhere. We are on a paved road up to our house, but you will need to drive about 1/2 of a mile on a graveled road to get to the cabin. If you want to roam around the farm or partake in helping with the cows you might want to bring pants and boots or appropriate footwear.
