This beautiful landscape has wonderful sea and sky views across the Ouse Washes, with a range of bird hides, a visitor centre and cafe where you can collect a backpack with bug-hunting and bird-watching kit. Cyclists can pick up the National Cycle Route which runs through Welney and there are lovely countryside walks to explore on your doorstep. The village has a traditional pub serving local produce, and you’ll find more eateries in March, where you can hire narrow boats to cruise along the River Nene, and in the historic market town of Downham Market (10 miles).
