Welcome to Chão da Mina—a cosy, off-grid nature cottage for two in Central Portugal. Surrounded by 1.75 hectares of olive and cork trees, this is a place to slow down and recharge in nature. Chão da Mina is located close to the charming village of São Miguel d'Acha (bakery, café, and restaurant). Historic villages and towns such as Monsanto, Idanha-a-Velha, Sortelha, Castelo Branco, and Covilhã are within driving distance, as are the Serra da Estrela, Serra da Malcata, and Naturtejo Geopark. The space Chão da Mina is a beautifully designed, open-plan nature cottage of 37 m² where living, sleeping and cooking come together in warm, rustic simplicity. The cottage is completely detached and runs on solar power. You will find all the comforts you need: a hot shower, a flushing toilet, a fully equipped kitchenette and 4G Wi-Fi. In summer, the granite walls and ceiling fan keep the place cool; on crisp winter evenings, you can light the cosy wood-burning stove. Here, you will enjoy complete privacy. Take in the views of the Serra da Gardunha, explore walking trails, and unwind. Our philosophy is earth · air · silence: a way of living that invites you to enjoy the warm ground beneath your feet, the blue sky above, and the luxury of being beautifully carefree. You are free to wander across our 1.75-hectare ecological estate. Rest beneath a cork oak, stroll past the olive trees, or pick fresh seasonal fruit from our orange and fig trees. Outside, you have two private terraces and a Sunset Lounge at your disposal, allowing you to make the absolute most of the sunset. As an eco-quinta, we generate our own electricity and pump up clean deep groundwater. There is fruit from our own trees, and we will make sure fresh eggs from our chickens are waiting for you. We also provide you with organic, eco-friendly toiletries. 🌈 LGBTQIA+ guests are more than welcome! 🐾 Pets are very welcome (maximum of 1 medium or 2 small dogs, outside on a leash)! 🚗 A car is essential due to limited public transport. 🤫 Not suitable for children, parties, or groups. Guest access You have exclusive use of the stone cottage, the private terraces and your own parking space. The surrounding estate (1.75 hectares) is yours to explore. We (your hosts, Marco & Inge) also live on the property to look after the land and our animals. Our house is out of sight and earshot, ensuring your privacy is fully guaranteed. You will, however, occasionally see us working on the land—pruning trees, mowing the grass, working in the vegetable garden or harvesting fruit. Other things to note Chão da Mina is an old, renovated small farmhouse (a *quinta*) in the countryside, with everything that comes with it. The sun shines and it sometimes rains heavily; wild animals might wander around at night; the chickens and a cockerel roam freely, and you might just spot a harmless ladder snake lying in the grass. No problem at all, just bear in mind that this is a rural location. Gas, electricity and water are all included in the rental price, as is the 4G Wi-Fi.
