The space Explore this area on foot, cycling using the bike hire available, or on a regular boat trip from one of the lake’s multiple launches. Closer to home, Hawkshead’s Esthwaite Water (0.5 miles) is smaller yet similarly beautiful, as is Coniston Water (4 miles). At the latter, take the Steam Yacht Gondola and admire the mighty hillside of the Old Man of Coniston (6.5 miles) from an enviable viewpoint on the water. The reverse-level layout ensures you can maximise your enjoyment of the views, with the elevated living areas offering a panoramic view of the neighbouring fields and hills. Before heading upstairs, stop off on the ground floor and unpack belongings in the two sumptuous bedrooms. Head up to the first floor, the social heart of the house with its open-plan lounge/diner and well-appointed kitchen, both of which offer sweeping national park views. Unwind in the lounge space after days of Lake District adventure, flicking on the TV to watch your favourite film. When stomachs rumble, find that the kitchen boasts all you need to cook up feasts for your loved ones, perhaps using the local ingredients you sourced during your travels. Step outside and take a few steps up into the private patio space on one side. This outdoor area is cute and well-contained, with seating to enjoy evening tipples.
