We are happy to show you the apt in advance. Se habla español ! Sorry not suitable for pets, or for children under the age of 10. Argentina's very strict covid travel restrictions are finally being lifted!!! As of October 1st, 2021, those from neighboring countries may enter the country. As of November 1st 2021, all foreign nationals may enter again. See this recent article about our very special building: https://www.lanacion.com.ar/buenos-aires/se-proyecto-en-1910-para-los-directivos-de-una-empresa-ferroviaria-y-hoy-es-el-edificio-mas-largo-de-nid18042022/ Bohemian elegance at its best. One of the most beautiful historic buildings in San Telmo, located on wide tree-lined Avenida Caseros, immediately adjacent to Lezama Park. Occupying an entire city block, the locals refer to this building as "El Edificio de los Ingleses" (The English Building), because it was originally designed to house British executives who came to build the country's railway system. These days--in addition to being privately owned residential housing-- our building is a favorite choice for film shoots, appearing frequently in TV commercials and feature films. Meticulously cared for and maintained, the building is one of the few in San Telmo with all its original architectural features. The apt has been updated and modernized but retains the original hardwood floors, 12 ft ceilings, mosaic tile, the old style "bovedilla" undulating brick ceiling in the kitchen, etc. And it is furnished with many Argentine retro/midcentury modern pieces from the 50s, 60s and 70s. If you appreciate vintage architecture, you'll LOVE it! - 1500 square feet (150m2) - northern exposure - spacious open floor plan - view of Lezama Park (and the skyline of Puerto Madero) - oversized double living room - three balconies facing the tree-lined avenue and park - two large bedrooms - 1.5 baths (one with bathtub, shower and bidet) - full kitchen - two queen sized beds (with firm mattresses) - one extra long twin bed (firm mattress) - bed linens and towels - chiropractic neck pillows (upon request) - landline telephone (free local calls) - high speed internet (WiFi) - one 28" Samsung HD flat screen TV - cable TV service with premium channels - CD/radio stereo system in the living room - gas wall heaters in master bedroom and living - 3 rolling electric radiators - AC wall unit (master bedroom only) - 2 floor fans - maid service included (for an additional fee) -huge roof top terrace with views - formal clothes line area on the roof top terrace Eat-in kitchen has: - Bosch fridge - older front loading European style Whirlpool washer - clothes drying area - older gas range with oven - microwave, blender, toaster, electric kettle, etc - two Brita water pitchers for filtering tap water - cooking utensils, cookware, dishes, glassware etc Always available by email and phone. And if I happen to be out of town, I have a very helpful manager who stands in for me and is available as needed. The neighborhood of San Telmo-- the heart of BA's historic district--has a decidedly bohemian look and feel and can be compared to Greenwich Village in Manhattan, Back Bay in Boston, or Montmartre in Paris. It is home to many professionals, artists, musicians, and expats who are drawn to its gritty but trendy urban old world charm. Cobble stone streets, colonial architecture, a multitude of great restaurants, cafes, bars, tango clubs, museums, antique stores, etc. On Sundays, Defensa street (1/2 block from the entrance to our building) is closed to traffic and becomes a 30 block pedestrian walk way with musicians, tango dancers, buskers, arts and crafts stands, etc. And the famous San Telmo flea/antique market is held every weekend in the main plaza--the Plaza Dorrego--only 6 blocks away. San Telmo is conveniently located downtown, and is adjacent to beautiful Puerto Madero on the river, to Barracas (the design district), and to the charming neighborhood of La Boca. Close to everything! The building is in the southern, quieter part of San Telmo. which has more of a neighborhood feel and is less crowded and touristy. This block of Caseros Avenue is the heart of San Telmo's new southern restaurant district. There are 10 restaurants, bars and cafes, most which have outdoor sidewalk seating. One of them is a natural foods restaurant and bakery, offering vegetarian and gluten free options. And there are many other great eateries nearby. One of the best tango music venues in the City is located only a half block away. -several main bus lines pass nearby -three different bus stops 1/2 block away -buses connect to the extensive subway system -taxis are inexpensive -several pay to park car lots nearby -shuttles and taxis are available from the airport -safe building of quiet, friendy professionals -top floor unit -only two apts per floor ("semi-piso") -very private -lovely breeze from the river -building has huge roof top terrace w/view - can see the post-game fireworks at La Boca stadium in the distance - 5 blocks to Puerto Madero - 10 blocks to the hike and bike trails and Ecological Reserve The kitchen is a bit underwhelming compared to the rest of the apt. But unless you're a gourmet, you should find it more than adequate. And with so many fabulous and reasonably priced restaurants nearby, you'll probably find you don't want to be cooking much at home anyway! Longer term stays for up to one year may be negotiated. We also do occasional home swaps/exchanges. Inquire if interested. TO RENT YOU MUST BE A VERIFIED AIRBNB USER, with a completed profile and references.
