Description

The term "glamping" comes from the words camping and glamour. Discover "Portuguese Africa" and settle into comfortable tents to the sound of birds and surrounded by a unique setting, with the best sunset and a magnificent starry sky. Let yourself be enveloped by the wine and agricultural landscapes and discover the hidden secrets we have to tell you, such as the Arronches waterfall or the tasty local cuisine. You will be very welcome! The space Arronches (Alentejo) Located in the Alto Alentejo region of the district of Portalegre, Arronches is known colloquially as the “Land of the Pigs”, because according to legend, people would open their pigsties in the morning so that their pigs would go out to the fields, and it was certain that, at the end of the afternoon, they would return to their owners' houses to open the pigsties. Arronches was also considered the manor of the black pig. It is said that it was an ancient Roman settlement built along the Caia river, founded in the time of Gaius Caligula, in the first year of the Christian era. D. Afonso Henriques conquered it from the Moors in 1166, lost it again, and it was recovered by D. Sancho II, in 1235. About 15 km away is the Caia Dam, on rustic and agricultural land, the Caia Dam has the largest reservoir in the entire district of Portalegre, running through the municipalities of Elvas, Arronches and Campo Maior. The Serra de São Mamede, in the district of Portalegre, holds some of the most beautiful waterfalls south of the Tagus. The Pego do Inferno Waterfall is fed by the waters of the Arronches stream. Herdade da Casa Tarouca was part of a series of properties that have remained in this same family since the 14th century and that were linked to each other in a strip of land near the border that went from Alegrete to Juromenha through the municipalities of Arronches, Campo Maior and Elvas. The Estate, an agricultural holding with pure Limousine cows, also has a wine-growing aspect, about 10Ha of vineyards with traditional varieties of the region and French varieties, with a very specific "terroir" and its own winery, where the "Terra dos Porcos" wine is produced. Other things to note Please note that we are in the countryside. It's advisable to have a pair of pants and sneakers in your suitcase to be more comfortable exploring, but don't forget your swimsuit. We also advise you to have mosquito repellent with you, especially between 6:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. when they like to appear more. In the village that is about 4 kilometers away there are two (2) supermarkets, Mini-preço and Meu-super. There are also good restaurants. You can choose to have your meal on-site or "take away".
