The space Welcome to Langhill… An exceptional Grade II listed Jacobean property offering extraordinary luxury within the heart of Dartmoor National Park. Recently restored, this historic house provides a warm and sociable setting ideal for large family gatherings, special celebrations, group escapes and well appointed for multi generational get togethers. The accommodation is exceptionally generous and versatile, providing ample space for relaxation and entertaining. You enter into the large boot room and through the utility space into the stunning vaulted garden room with French doors that open to the gardens affording views across the valley. This room is flooded with light in summer but is equally welcoming in winter with its huge woodburning stove. This room has a 42-inch smart TV. This room flows seamlessly into the fully equipped kitchen (with comforting underfloor heating) complete with all the modern conveniences including a range cooker, and 2 further ovens, an air fryer and a warming drawer. This room provides a warm and practical space with farmhouse seating for up to 8. A perfect place to breakfast or feed the kids. The kitchen benefits from a walk-in larder and a generous supply of all cooking and dining items. This is a great cook’s kitchen. Beyond the kitchen is the quiet study with superfast broadband. A perfect place for any guests having to work from home or keep in touch with online calls. The oak panelled dining room comfortably seats 12 - a really grown-up, formal dining area with a cupboard full of an assortment of beautiful glassware fir every tipple! A fabulous space for a murder mystery or ‘The Traitors’ style game! The ‘red room’ with an original working inglenook fireplace complete with bread oven for cosy evenings and fireside chats. In the original part of the house, the first floor hosts three bedrooms - the magnificent principal suite with a superking bed, dressing room, access to the mezzanine level and a luxurious en-suite bathroom featuring a roll-top bath and separate shower. The second bedroom has a king bed with its own bathroom and the third has a small double bed (best suited to sleep one) and an en-suite shower The second floor offers two additional twin bedrooms. The lounge features a large smart TV to keep the kids entertained, together with a full-sized desk for any homework and a dining table and chairs. This gives you the option to occasionally let the kids have their own space and let the grownups have some quiet time! Part of the house is a beautifully converted barn with two bedrooms, both have king beds and their own allocated shower rooms. Here you will also find the media room which has a 60inch large screen smart tv, a blue ray player and Sonos surround sound. There is also a large supply of DVD’s and CDs for those who still like “old tech”. Outside, enjoy the exquisite formal gardens including a traditional walled garden, rolling lawns and an established orchard. At the end of the large games lawn is a beautiful cedar built Pavilion. This top of the range all weather building has power and heat and is a wonderful place to relax and entertain. In summer it provides a perfect spot for outdoor bbq gatherings together with the picnic tables and firepit, or it can just be used for quiet contemplation amid the sounds of nature. The Pavilion has a mix of formal and informal seating for up to 12 people. There is also a telescope for nights of star gazing. The house is provided with outdoor tableware and a 3 burner gas bbq. Beyond the beautiful formal gardens is a large open lawned area, perfect for games and picnics. Please note that within the grounds there is a pond with beautiful water lilies, but this is open water and not fenced. It is deep in places so please be aware. Guests can enjoy two beautiful fireplaces at Langhill. A log burner in the Garden Room and an inglenook fireplace in the Red Room. We provide a generous basket of logs and kindling (enough for several fires) together with some helpful tips on how to light and keep a fire in. The house provides chess, backgammon, monopoly, cards and other family games. Langhill enjoys a peaceful and private position while remaining close to the market town of Moretonhampstead offering independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants, while the dramatic moorland provides outstanding walking, cycling and riding directly from the doorstep. Bovey Castle, a five-star hotel with golf, spa and leisure facilities, is just five minutes away, and the renowned Gidleigh Park Hotel is also close by. Langhill offers a rare opportunity to experience a truly special historic house in one of Devon’s most beautiful and sought-after locations — an unforgettable setting for a luxury holiday or countryside escape. Guest access The house and gardens are yours to exclusively enjoy. Other things to note The house is best suited to 8/9 adults and 4/5 children as a maximum. As a general rule, we don't accept bookings for groups of just adults that exceed 8, however exceptions may be made depending on your circumstances. When making an enquiry or a booking request, we'd love the know the reason for your stay with us and the ages of the children (if any). Unfortunately we cannot accept hen or stag parties but all other celebrations welcome! We have details of a private chef for that celebratory lunch or dinner. We can accommodate a mid week clean for bookings of 7 nights or more subject to availability. We have a comprehensive list of local activities, restaurants and walks which is provided upon booking in order to help you plan your stay. We allow a maximum of two small / medium sized dogs but will make exceptions - please include this is the initial booking message. We do have some standard pet rules to follow: As much as your pet I would love to sneak on the furniture, they must not. They are not allowed upstairs. Please pick up up after your dog and dispose of 'doggy poo bags' responsibly by putting them in the black bin. If they accidentally nibble or damage something, you will be responsible for the damage. Please do not leave you dog unattended in the property at any time. Please ensure your dog is all up to date with flea treatments etc.
