Description
Our community-driven home has an amazing view onto Oldshoremore Beach, which is just a few minutes walking distance away. It’s a very calm area with more sheep than human beings and is known for hiking and biking. The walking way to Sandwood Bay and Cape Wrath runs by the house, and it is a worthwhile detour from the North Coast 500 road. The house is fully equipped and offers a cosy atmosphere for hikers, travellers and anyone who wants to retreat into Scotland's wild beauty. The space Our house offers enough space for families or groups with up to 10 people, with volunteers in the house (from WWOOF), to help with all our permaculture projects. The lower floor has two private rooms and two bathrooms. The second floor has a spacious open and bright communal room with a roof window to the west opening the view down to the Beach. The kitchen and one of the bathrooms have been renovated and transformed to an up to date standard. The living room offers a view onto Oldshoremore Bay that never ceases to give you awe and gratitude. The house is part of a croft on which we are starting a permaculture project, growing our own veggies, and the lawn in front of the house invites to sit in a chair and enjoy the view, if the weather permits! This is a community-driven home, where volunteers from all over the world meet and share beautiful moments. It has all the comfort you need, and we always adapt to your needs. Always feel free to ask any of us; we are all open-minded, understanding and peaceful. This is a place for souls to gather and enjoy simple moments. Guest access If you come to visit you may feel at home with access to all the spaces: the living room with a fireplace, the kitchen with all you need to create a meal; both bathrooms — one with a bathtub, the porch and the whole croft going down to the beach road. There is enough space for up to 3 cars behind the house, or a big camper van. During your stay My wife and I live in the house inhabiting one room and are present most of the time, though we will spend most of it in the garden. We both practice meditation and lead a calm life and are happy to switch to invisible mode and give you the space you need. On the other hand we are there anytime you need something and love to share conversations and a good laugh rather as friends than as hosts. Other things to note My wife is from Costa Rica and a talented vegetarian and vegan cook and offers breakfast, lunch/pick nick lunch and dinner for an adequate contribution. She also studied and practiced for 10 years as massage therapist and offers Reflexology-, Shiatsu-, Craneosacral-, Tuina-, Deep Tissue- and Lymphatic Drainage-Therapies. We own a croft and are developing a little farm around the house. We take care of two alpacas and some chicken that gift us with their eggs for breakfast, and we keep on landscaping and developing our permaculture and reforestation projects. Our beloved dog Iona and two cats, Yin and Yang, accompany us through the day; we are animal friendly and your beloved furry travel companions are mostly welcomed. Please note that this is a rural croft and what we offer can be different than other properties. We actively work the land, focusing on agriculture and farming; we love nature and animals and we run our place according to the ideas of permaculture and regenerative community. Coming here to our lively home, you can expect a vibrant community vibe, with a family of volunteers and always animals in and around the house, rather than a spotless 5 star accommodation.
