Guest access You will have exclusive access to the entire detached house, the log cabin, and the gardens. Other things to note Dulcote is a very special hamlet nestled on the edge of Wells, England’s smallest city. It offers the best of both worlds: peaceful countryside living with the city centre within easy walking distance. Directly opposite the house are the beautiful Palace Fields, with a lovely 20-minute walk across footpaths into Wells — perfect for dog walkers or anyone wanting to explore on foot. Dulcote sits midway along a two-mile stretch of the popular Strawberry Line, a flat and scenic walking and cycling path following the old railway line. One direction takes you on a gentle one-mile walk to Morrisons for all your essentials and onward into the city centre via the ancient woodland of Park Wood. The other direction leads towards Dulcote Quarry and open countryside, with a noticeably steeper incline. There are plenty of circular walks available straight from the door. The area is ideal for cyclists, families with young children, and is also suitable for mobility scooters and wheelchairs, with an accessible and mostly flat route into Wells. Wells Wells itself is a beautiful, lively small city, home to the Bishop’s Palace and the stunning Wells Cathedral, both around a 20-minute walk away. The city hosts a thriving twice-weekly market every Wednesday and Saturday (9am–3pm), offering fresh produce, artisan stalls, clothes, books, and crafts. There are also regular performances and events at Cedars Hall and the Wells Little Theatre. Wells has a vibrant cultural calendar throughout the year, including the Literature Festival, Comedy Festival, Food Festival, Wells Art Contemporary, Wells Theatre Festival, and the spectacular Wells City Carnival. Exploring Somerset You’re perfectly placed for exploring the wider area: Glastonbury – 15 minutes Bruton – 25 minutes Frome – 30 minutes Bristol and the World Heritage city of Bath – around 20 miles Wonderful attractions such as The Newt, Longleat Safari & Adventure Park, and Stourhead are all within 40 minutes’ drive.
