The space This newly built apartment is located in Barbate's old town, on a pedestrian street full of flower pots and flowers. It is located on the first floor of a typical family house with access through a private alley. The La Marinera house is contemporary, airy and bright. It has a kitchen open to the dining room and the living area, which leads to a sunny terrace with sun loungers and outdoor furniture. A perfect space for sunbathing, enjoying a good breakfast or dining in the cool Barbatean evenings. It has a double bedroom with a window facing the street, a built-in closet and a large attached bathroom, also outside. Very well equipped with kitchenware and bedding and bath linens. Other things to note IN BARBATE La Marinera is very close to the river and only a five-minute walk to the "Virgen del Carmen" beach, the Paseo Marítimo beach. Past the fishing port and the recreational pier, we find another beach, "La Hierbabuena", a beautiful wild beach near the cliffs where you can surf. Barbate is located in a magical and privileged enclave. The Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean merge at the mouth of the Strait of Gibraltar between two continents. On clear days you can see the blue mountains of Morocco and in the evenings the lights of Tanger appear in front of the beach. It's a town of seafarers. A fishing village whose existence was based centuries ago on tuna fishing with the ancient Almadraba technique, something unique and impressive to witness. Barbate is a cheerful, open and somewhat surreal town that moves to the beat of the prevailing winds under the protection of its Virgen del Carmen, the Star of the Seas. A town with deep roots in flamenco singing and dancing that passionately cherishes its festivals and traditions. GASTRONOMY: Tuna is the star of Barbate, but there is also a variety of fish and seafood, and we can't forget to try the Retinto meat and the organic beef from La Janda, the local cured meats and cheeses that are of excellent quality. There is a wide variety of tapas bars that you can walk to. Very close to the apartment we have La Peña Flamenca, which offers flamenco programming on Fridays and La Tienda de Strazza. Also recommended are El Camarón, La Bodega del Relojero, La Taberna de Abelardo and La Venta El Paquete. For lunch or dinner there is a good selection of restaurants such as Variopinto, the Italian Espresso Love, La Peña del Atún, the Japanese Yoko or the famous and more luxurious Campero. If you want a coffee or drink in the afternoon or go out at night, there are lively bars on the Paseo Marítimo or the romantic Embarcadero garden. Although the real gastronomic experience is to go shopping at the small market and cook the fresh product at home. The market itself is a world. It offers top-quality meats, fish, seasonal vegetables, Arabic pastries, and spices. To finish the purchase, you can have a wine at the outdoor stalls and try some new proposals such as the Peruvian fusion at El 42. Other old favorites, pork rinds and cheeses in La Charcutasca. Don't miss the popular Churrería open from early. SURROUNDINGS AND ACTIVITIES From Barbate you can hike or bike along the river through the Las Marismas Natural Park, where migratory birds rest on their way to Africa, tour the dense pine forests of the La Breña Natural Park, where the largest dovecote in the world dating from the 18th century is located, and of course, stroll along its beaches. Caños de Meca is 7 km away, where you can see beautiful sunsets behind the Trafalgar lighthouse. At the same distance, the lively village of Zahara de los Atunes. The picturesque white village of Vejer de la Frontera is above, behind the cliffs and on the nearby coast, Conil, El Palmar and Bologna with their impressive Roman ruins and the museum of the ancient city of Baelo Claudia. It is worth spending a day to get to know the capital of the province, Cádiz. These populations have an immense natural and cultural heritage. They were inhabited by different civilizations, Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, Visigoths and they maintain that melting pot of cultures and the basis of their natural resources, salted fish and tuna fishing. In summer, the coast is filled with lights and music. There are numerous Flamenco concerts and Jazz festivals throughout the area and magical events such as La Velá de Barbate and Vejer with its narrow streets lit with candles. All these villages are connected to each other by the Bike Lane on the Eurovelo 8 route that starts in Cádiz and ends in Cyprus. In Barbate there is a bicycle rental company, also electric, "Breña Bike" and a tourist boat "Marine Atlante" that offers different activities, including a visit to the almadraba in the months of tuna fishing. HOW TO GET TO BARBATE The nearest airport is Jerez de la Frontera XRY, 80 km away. Gibraltar Airport 91km away. Seville Airport 167 km away. Malaga Airport 198 km away. From these towns you can take buses to Barbate. You can also go to the city of Cádiz, from where numerous daily buses leave for Barbate.
