Eco, Off Grid Nature Hut

Description

Located next to a pond in a copse surrounded by fields, this hut is the perfect get away. The hut is solar powered, the water is from a bore hole and the loo is an outside compost loo. You are living with nature and for nature. The hut offers visitors an opportunity to experience an outdoor and simple lifestyle. Light the wood burner when it is cold. Cook outdoors while watching the ducks and moor hens on the pond. Sit next to the blazing fire pit or lazily row around the pond. The space Very compact living space with a raised double bed and a single bed at floor level. Folding table and chairs for indoor dining. A Victorian commode for those nights when you can't face going out to the compost loo. A small sink with running cold water. and cupboards and shelves holding crockery, cutlery and glasses. The hut has solar generated electricity powering lighting and USB charging, a small fridge and a tiny kettle (The only way you will get hot water inside the hut). We provide free fire wood for the wood burner, which keeps the hut cosy on the coldest of nights. Outside on the deck, under the tarpaulin there is a camp kitchen with a two burner gas cooker and a washing up bowl. The outside folding tables and chairs are perfect for alfresco dining next to the pond. Your private compost toilet is just a few steps from the hut, tucked into the trees. We have a spiral shower enclosure where you can shower outside in the open air with water heated by a gas boiler. Or next project is to convert a cheese vat into a bath. This will be heated by lighting a fire inside a coiled copper pipe. Watch this space and we will put up photos as soon as it is completed. The fire pit with its log seating is located in a clearing a few steps from the hut. Great for cooking marshmallows and campfire songs. Guest access You can park the parking area about 50Mtrs from the hut and then walk across the sheep field (you can't have a shepherd's hut without sheep) to get to the copse. Bring shoes or boots you can walk across a sometimes muddy field in. We have a wheelbarrow for your luggage if need be. The copse and the pond are exclusively yours for the duration of your stay. You are very welcome to wander around our 100 acre farm and visit the sheep and pigs. Other things to note We are only 5 minutes drive from J28 of the M5 and 1 mile from the town of Cullompton but we are surrounded by nature. Guests will hear owls at night and so many birds, including buzzards during the day. I've looked out of the hut window and seen deer in the fields many times. My birdsong app identified 12 species of birds in a 20 minute session in the copse last spring.
