The Hut on the Hill
The Hut on the Hill
Description
Welcome to The Hut on the Hill, our shepherd’s hut nestled in a field on our working farm in East Sussex. Enjoy the stunning views of the rural landscape and gaze into the star filled sky whilst relaxing in our wood fired hot tub. We are blessed with wildlife; make sure to look out for our resident barn owls who are often seen flying along the hedge lines. The space The hut is nestled in the corner of a field with beautiful views of the coast, the Sussex Downs and the Pevensey Levels. In Spring and Summer months, livestock will be grazing the fields next to the Hut so we can't guarantee total silence! There are two great footpaths from the hut. You can either walk across to 'Highwoods', an SSSI wood which has three different sized trails, or you can walk across the fields to the local pub or farm shop café. Wellies are essential as the paths and fields get extremely muddy in Winter! We are blessed with local towns, all within a fifteen minutes drive. Head to Battle to look around historic Battle Abbey, head to Bexhill for fish and chips, or drive to Hastings to wander around the quaint Old Town. Wine lovers will be spoilt for choice as Sussex and Kent are home to some fabulous vineyards. We have numerous vineyards within a thirty minutes drive. Well behaved dogs are allowed (at an extra cost). The hut is not fenced in so please keep your dog close by at all times. Please note that The Hut is South facing and shade is very limited. We supply some wood for the wood burner inside and a small supply of wood for the hot tub outside. We are happy for you to bring/ buy your own wood or we charge £10 for a bag. The hot tub will not be lit prior to your arrival and it can take 2-4 hours to heat up. If you don’t require the hot tub, please let us know as we can offer a discounted rate. Guest access Guests access the hut down a farm track, which is situated off the main road. There is a designated parking bay which is signposted. Please do not park on the track as access is required 24/7. The Hut is approximately 50 meters from the parking bay and track. Please note that it is not possible to drive right up to the Hut. Other things to note As we are a working farm, you may see and hear tractors and other machinery. We will have livestock grazing in the fields in the Spring and Summer months so if you bring your dog, please make sure they are kept on leads at all times as the Hut is not fenced in. Please also make sure you pick up dog waste. The Hut is approximately 400 meters from the main road, normally you can’t hear any road noise. The hot tub is wood fired and takes 2-4 hours to heat up. Please note the fire or wood burner will not be lit prior to arrival, instructions on how to light both fires will be in the welcome pack. The Hut is South facing which means that shade is very limited at The Hut. We are looking at options to try and solve this. If you don’t require the hot tub, please let us know as we can offer a discounted rate.
