Within a peaceful highland setting, Balqhuidder is rich in wildlife, steeped in history and folklore, perfect for anyone seeking a truly memorable escape. The space Early booking secures a fabulous time-limited introductory offer. The Flying Hogget is located in Balquhidder, within The Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, a place of outstanding natural beauty, where mountains, lochs, and ancient woodlands meet. The surrounding landscape is rich with wildlife, red deer, red squirrels, beavers, pine martens and a variety of birds of prey which are regularly spotted in the area. On the property itself, guests can enjoy the peaceful presence of sheep and horses, adding to the authentic rural highland atmosphere. Balquhidder is steeped in history and legend, described by the Celts as 'a thin place' where the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds (heaven and earth) are believed to be exceptionally narrow. Long regarded as a land of folklore, clan stories, and spiritual calm and is famously associated with Rob Roy MacGregor the infamous 17th century outlaw. So, whether you’re watching the mist roll across the loch at dawn or enjoying the stillness under star-filled skies, this is a setting that invites you to slow down and reconnect. The carriage is sensitively placed to afford privacy but high enough to enjoy uninterrupted panoramic views including east to Ben Vorlich and west to the Braes of Balquhidder and Loch Voil. Although a short distance to the other listed property, (The Hogget Hut) and the hosts own home, the properties are well separated and carefully positioned to maintain privacy, uninterrupted views, and a quiet, relaxing environment for all guests. Alternatively bring another couple and book both to enjoy what each has to offer. From the designated parking space, follow the subtly lit pathway turning right at the BBQ hut and venture up to the carriage. Follow the platform to the door flanked by original 1800's carriage lamps, but remember to “mind the gap” when entering and alighting the train! Inside you'll find more than a passing resemblance to the interior of a luxury train carriage with brushed brass fittings synonymous with those from the Orient Express. However unlike a train in a bygone era, The Flying Hogget has underfloor heating, two comfy leather chairs, a high bed with plenty of under drawer space , a good mattress, quality linen and ambient lighting ensuring you'll receive plenty of rest and relaxation. A sliding door leads to the toilet, and a good sized shower. A bespoke dresser houses a belfast sink, microwave, induction hob and fridge. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Big picture windows overlooking the loch, open onto a sheltered porch to help while away an evening with a glass of wine whilst enjoying the view. The BBQ hut is available subject to availability. Please enquire prior to booking. A starter tub of charcoal is provided and more can be purchased at £5 a tub. The BBQ hut, modelled on a hexagon shaped Nordic hut with a central BBQ area, provides a fine opportunity to hone your culinary skills or alternatively slap on a couple of burgers. Either way its a lovely way to cook and enjoy. Perfect for couples, creatives, and anyone seeking something truly special. This one-of-a-kind carriage offers luxury, history, and atmosphere in equal measure, quite simply an extraordinary highland getaway you won’t forget. Guest access Guests have access to a shared designated parking area adjacent to the owners property, approximately 50 meters from the carriage. There are grass and gravel tracks leading up the hill to the carriage. Other things to note Early booking secures a fabulous time limited introductory offer. Please note that access to the hut requires a short walk along a rough path, which may be unsuitable for guests with mobility difficulties. We recommend bringing a torch for use during the darker hours. We have another unique property located elsewhere on the same land, which you may see listed on our profile. The properties are well separated and carefully positioned to maintain privacy, uninterrupted views, and a quiet, relaxing environment for all guests. airbnb.co.uk/h/thehoggethut
