Orchard Row, two adjoining 18C cottages - Sleeps 6
Description
Orchard Row is a pair of adjoining 18th-century cottages set in a walled garden, overlooking a neighbouring orchard. Sleeping up to six across two separate cottages, it’s ideal for multi-generational families or friends who want to holiday together while keeping their own space. Enjoy shared dining, cosy living areas with gas stoves, a south-facing patio, shared garden, firepit and stargazing deck. Dog friendly. The space Orchard Row combines two adjacent cottages — Hop Pickers’ Cottage (sleeps 4) and Welsh Cottage (sleeps 2)— once a single 18th-century hop farm building. This flexible layout is perfect for multi-generational families or friends travelling together, offering shared dining and outdoor space. Note that the smaller cottage is unsuitable for children. Hop Pickers’ Cottage has a fully-equipped kitchen and an open plan living room with gas-fired ‘wood burner’. Upstairs there’s a cosy double room, and a twin/superking with orchard views. The beautifully refurbished bathroom has a bath and shower over. Welsh Cottage is a beautifully styled and welcoming retreat for two. This tiny nook has just enough room for a couple (plus dog) to hunker down, with a cosy open-plan living area incorporating a smart, well-equipped kitchenette, comfortable armchairs & gas-fired cast-iron stove. Upstairs, there’s a double bedroom with characterful beams and a beautiful bathroom with walk-in shower. Outside, relax on your south-facing patio and enjoy views over the shared garden. Tastefully furnished rooms blend traditional and modern, and the many original features are complemented by local art work and photography which give a sense of the building’s former use as a dwelling for hop pickers during the annual harvest. From your patio you can step out into the pretty cottage garden (shared with other guests) and, in warmer weather, relax in hammock chairs or the outdoor seating. On summer evenings, take in the scent of lavender, jasmine and honeysuckle or light the firepit and, on a clear night, enjoy the starry skies from our new star-gazing deck - telescope, binoculars and blankets are available! Please note that pets other than dogs are not allowed in our cottages. We accept a maximum of two small to medium sized dogs, as long as they are house trained and under control at all times. Guest access Guests are welcome to use the shared garden and star-gazing deck. A washing machine and dryer are available in the communal utility room. Other things to note Children are most welcome in the larger (Hop Pickers’) cottage, and a travel cot, high chair and stair gate are available on request. The smaller (Welsh) cottage is unsuitable for children.
