Description
My house is private, comfortable and set in stunning surroundings with open views. I have made a big effort to make it as homey as possible and equipped it with most necessities and really comfortable beds. The house is located on the edge of Arnarstapi village, closely surrounded by the ocean, vast lava fields, mountains and the majestic Snæfellsjökull. Every season there has it´s own charm but the beauty and peacefulness is always present, pulling you out for various activities. The space The space consists of a 70 sq.m. ground floor living area, 25 sq.m. sleeping loft, 85 sq.m. porch and the surrounding private land including a small playground and a private parking area. The main entrance goes into a small room with a big closet and space to leave your outdoor clothes and shoes. Next to this room is a separate shower room with space for drying clothes and towels. The house has two bedrooms, one with a double bed (140x200cm), the other one with two single beds (90x200cm). Both bedrooms have one big closet, reading lights and bedroom tables. The separate bathroom is next to the bedrooms and is equipped with a standard european toilet, closets and a big mirror. In the hall, next to the bedrooms and bathroom, is a ladder up to the sleeping loft. The sleeping loft has four comfortable adult mattresses (90 x 200 x 12 cm). The kitchen is open into the dining-and living room and is well equipped. It has a refrigerator, small freezer, cooker, oven, toaster, coffee maker, tea kettle and various utensils for cooking, baking and dining. The dining room has a big wooden table with four wooden chairs and two wooden benches. It fits 6-8 people comfortably. The living room is partly sheared with the dining room but continues further into a more ‟separate” living/TV room. The shared living room has one table and two comfortable chairs. The ‟separate” living room has another table, two comfortable chairs, a three person sofa, few books in english, speakers, and a TV set with few movies. The porch has great, open views and is accessible both through the main entrance and the living room door. It is partly roofed and well sheltered from the three main wind directions. All guests have access to a gas-grill, chairs, table and a hammock to use outside. The whole house has wooden floors, walls and ceilings and is well lit with both fixed lights and many lamps. There are multiple electric radiators in the house which makes it easy to customize the heating inside. A 200 liter hot water tank is sufficient for two showers and takes 1 hour to fill up again. The space has free WiFi. For more detailed information on the house visit the House Manual and look for the blue folder in the house. Guest access The guests have access to the whole space apart from one outdoor storage room. Other things to note Arnarstapi is a rather remote village. Make sure you plan your trip well before you come and visit. It is good to buy groceries and other necessities in Reykjavik or in Borgarnes and always good to check the weather forecast and road condition before you depart, especially in the winter. There is a self service fuel pump for selected credit/debit cards in the village and few options for food in the summer season. For further information on necessities and service in the area visit my Guidebook on my listing site and look for the blue folder in the house.
