The Donkey Dairy Cottage - Farm Stay

The Donkey Dairy is one of a kind! Nestled on the slopes of the majestic Magaliesberg, this working donkey farm is home to a variety of friendly farm animals. On your visit you will be greeted by our alpacas, chickens, donkeys, horses, goats and even camels. If you would like to replace your cell phone’s morning alarm with the crowing of roosters or replace the hooting of cars with the braying of donkeys, the solar powered Donkey Dairy Cottage is the place for you! (2xAdults & 2xKids under 12) The space The Solar powered Donkey Dairy Cottage is both cosy and well-furnished. We provide tea, coffee, milk and home-baked rusks on arrival. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen. It includes a fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, iron with ironing board, 2 plate stove-oven and enough pots and pans, crockery and cutlery to make your stay with us very comfortable. There is a braai and boma area for those who prefer to cook under the stars. (A portable braai is also available that can be moved to the undercover parking in rainy conditions.) The bathroom has a basin, shower and toilet, with toilet paper provided. The bedroom is very comfortable in both warm summer weather and chilly winter temperatures with a double bed for two adults and a sleeper couch that is perfect for two kids (12years and younger). Free Wifi available (which could be limited depending on the weather). Guest access The Donkey Dairy Cottage is adjacent to the main farm house with its own undercover parking, a patio with dining area, its own private boma area with two hammocks, a small private swimming pool next to the forest where you can relax or have a braai and enjoy the sounds of our farmyard animals. Access to the farm can be reached with a Sedan car under suitable weather conditions. Other things to note You will have access to our 35ha farm where you can roam and hike amongst the mountain donkeys on our 2km family friendly hiking trail, “Brayers Eye”. At the eye you can have a forest picnic where kids can enjoy swinging in the hammocks and drink fresh water from the mountain spring. For the more romantic couples, hike up to the top of the “Long Ears Lookout” trail, where you can enjoy a sundowner overlooking the sunset in the Magaliesberg region. The Guests can feel free to visit the animals or ask one of our friendly staff to help bottle feed our cute baby goats, which children love to do. Picnic blankets and backpacks for hiking can be provided by the host. Wood available @ R40 / per bag. Firelighters available @ R30 a box. We have a Mini Farm Shop where you can buy some jams, rusks, sweets, cool drinks and our Famous Donkey Dairy Products. This includes our Donkey Dairy milk, soap and creams. Card Facility available. The sleeper couch in the bedroom can easily sleep two children or one adult. We have 2 large and 2 small family friendly dogs who would love to say hi on your arrival!
