If you are looking to experience the authentic side of Sweden, this is a place where history, tranquility, and nature come together. Kitchen The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need for your stay. From here, you can enjoy beautiful views of the lake while preparing your meals. A small seating area makes it the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee or relax in the evening. Dining room The separate dining room offers plenty of space for shared meals. A traditional wood burning stove adds to the authentic Swedish atmosphere and makes long evenings together especially cozy. Bedrooms The house offers five individually furnished bedrooms with three double beds and two single beds, providing comfortable accommodation for families and groups. Guests also have access to: • A traditional wood fired hot tub • A boat • A private dock • Two fire pits • A large barn with plenty of firewood Lake Ämten, located only about 150 meters from the house, is perfect for swimming, fishing, or simply relaxing by the water. Private dock The house includes its own private dock on Lake Ämten, exclusively available to guests. Just a short walk from the house, it is the perfect place to spend the day by the water, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, or watch the sunset over the lake. Location and surroundings The house is located in the beautiful region of Värmland in central Sweden, surrounded by forests and lakes. Hiking trails begin right outside the property, and the area offers excellent opportunities for swimming, fishing, and enjoying nature. Depending on the season, you can pick blueberries, lingonberries, raspberries, and mushrooms in the nearby forests. With a little luck, you may also spot moose, deer, and a variety of birds in the surrounding area. Despite its peaceful location, the town of Hagfors, with supermarkets, restaurants, gas stations, and other shops, can be reached in less than 15 minutes by car. What makes this house special This is not a modern newly built holiday home, but a more than 120 year old Swedish country house full of history and character. If you are looking for an authentic Swedish experience, you will feel at home here. Some of the original features that make this house unique include: • During colder weather, the house is mainly heated with traditional wood burning stoves. • The water inside the house is not drinking water. It is suitable for showering, washing hands, brushing teeth, and washing dishes. For drinking and cooking, please use bottled water purchased from the supermarket. • Waste separation is taken very seriously in Sweden. A detailed guide is provided in the guest handbook. • A small dishwasher is available. Larger amounts of dishes may therefore need to be washed by hand. These traditional features are part of the authentic Swedish countryside experience and contribute to the unique charm of the house. Good to know The house is especially well suited for longer stays and for guests looking to enjoy peace, nature, and privacy. Upon arrival, you will find a detailed guest handbook with information about the house, the surrounding area, and many helpful tips to make the most of your stay. Other things to note The key for the entrance gate is stored in a key box. You will receive the access information before your arrival. Please leave the gate in the same position as you found it. If it is open when you arrive, please leave it open. If it is closed, open it to drive through and close it again afterwards. The same applies when leaving the property. The neighboring properties, especially the areas to the right of the house, are private and must not be entered. Fishing is permitted on the lake. A valid fishing permit is required and can easily be purchased online via the iFiske app or website. Upon arrival, you will also find a detailed guest guide with additional information about the fishing area, included lakes, depth maps, and the applicable fishing regulations. The hot tub is already filled with filtered water upon your arrival and only needs to be heated to your desired temperature using firewood. The water is treated with a suitable water care product to keep it clean and hygienic. Please do not be surprised by the slightly brownish color of the water. This is caused by the natural iron content of the lake water and is completely harmless. The water inside the house is suitable for everyday use such as showering and washing. However, please use bottled drinking water from the supermarket for drinking and cooking. It is available in the nearest town, approximately a 15-minute drive away.
