Matriz Guest House - House with Terrace

The Matriz Guest House is the first floor of a century-old house recently restored to a high standard. It is located in the center of the medieval village of Portel, Central Alentejo, Portugal, 12 km from the nearest river beach and 15 km from Marina Amieira, both located in the municipality of Portel and next to Lake Alqueva. Closest cities are Évora, 40 km north, a World Heritage Site (UNESCO), and Beja, 40 km south, with good access by car or bus via the IP2 road. The space There are 4 double rooms for a total of 8 guests. There are three large rooms, two with single beds can be changed into a king size bed with a single mattress. Each has easy chairs, side tables, desk, large wardrobe and mirror. A fourth bedroom has a double bed, desk, wardrobe, mirror and easy chair. All rooms have a towel dryer; the beds have anti-allergenic mattresses and pillows. There are 2 spacious bathrooms, one with a shower, one with a bathtub, each has 2 sinks, bidet, and hair dryers. Free wifi is available throughout the house. The lounge is decorated with pieces of antique and modern vintage-design furniture, with a seating area and a dining area, equipped with table, sofa, TV with 120 channels, high fidelity audio and video system, and a board games box. The sun room is ideal for a drink and a good book. The fully-equipped kitchen has a table and chairs, and there is an adjacent laundry. The terrace and pergola lounge have a view of the castle, church and gardens. Also available is a library with a diverse collection of literary works, books of photography, history and poetry, CDs of jazz, classical and traditional music, and DVDs of classical movies. Leisure Activities include walking and photographic tours, as well as some photography workshops, to be organized periodically, whose subjects will be of the surrounding landscape, the Lake of Alqueva and historic cities such as Mértola, Évora, Mértola ,Marvão, Portalegre, Monsaraz, Évora, Beja, Castelo de Vide, Estremoz, Elvas, Serpa, Crato, Aviz, Moura, Mourão, Cuba, Sines, Santiago do Cacém, among other villages in the Alentejo. Short-term photography workshops with invited photographers of national and international reputation will be organized at the facilities of the Matriz Guest House. Guest access Access is to every common room on the 1st floor of the house, with a separate entrance. All the rooms have use of the kitchen with pantry and laundry, bathrooms, large lounge with sitting and eating area, sun room, and terrace. Next door to Matriz Guest House there is a grocery store and church (Igreja Matriz), and a green leisure park with century-old olive trees is just behind. Restaurants, cafes, hairdresser, pharmacy, post office and car park are within a radius of 50 meters. The medical center is 100 meters away. The village castle, whose construction dates back to the 13th century, is open for visitors.
