Numerous maritime events characterize city life. Well-known tourist attractions, such as the East Frisian State Museum, the Emden Art Gallery, the museum ships in the Ratsdelft, and the OTTO-Huus, can be explored on guided city tours or informative canal/harbor cruises. The Lower Saxon mainland coast invites you to discover the East Frisian Islands. Our vacation rental is located in the former commercial section of the Houwerda family's manor house, situated on a raised platform in the upscale Wolthusen residential area of Emden. Built around 1850, this part of the building housed the village bakery and a general store. The restoration took place from 07/2019-12/2025. In our apartment, which has been lovingly and stylishly restored and furnished in a unique way with high-quality, building biology materials, natural lime, ecological insulation materials, and mineral paints, you can enjoy a journey through time with a historic ambience, yet you still have the contemporary comforts of today. You sleep on high-quality Emma mattresses with Wolkenfeld bed linens. This is also suitable for allergy sufferers. There is underfloor heating and fiber optic Internet with Wi-Fi. The Warft village of Wolthusen is located just a 15–20-minute walk from the city center – right on the Ems-Jade Canal, the Kesselschleuse lock (Europe's only structure of this kind), along the historic city fortifications, the Emden ramparts, which are now a local recreation and green area. The train station is about 3 km away. Grocery stores and shopping facilities can be reached within 600 meters. Bedding and towels are intended as the initial supply and are, of course, included in the price. The accommodation price also includes the 3.5% accommodation tax for the city of Emden. A security deposit is not charged. Our 3 apartments in an ensemble complex, each with a separate entrance, can also be rented together, each for 2 people.
