Farm Stay on wine trail (includes breakfast)

Enjoy a quiet, spacious farmstay situated in Northern Tasmania's wine region with a beautiful rural outlook and only 35 mins from Launceston. To ensure you are toasty and warm during a Tasmanian winter, passive heating via double glazed windows/double insulated walls/ceiling and remote control oil heater. Self-serve fresh breakfast supports local producers. From the deck watch Suffolk sheep grazing in the paddock, Angus cows, hens foraging, native birds, kangaroos, wombats and echidnas. The space Sidmouth Farmstay Airbnb is a new build and is tastefully decorated with you the guest in mind, it has everything you need to make your stay memorable and comfortable. It is situated on our farm roughly 40 metres from our private residence. We have planted trees and shrubs to give extra privacy. TASMANIAN NATIVE PLANTS We purchased this farm of 32 hectares (70 acres) just over 4 years ago and in this time we have extensively landscaped the garden. The semicircle garden around the turning circle as you come through the main gates is planted exclusively with plants that are endemic only to Tasmania, including a Huon Pine tree, Sassafras and a Leatherwood tree. FARM ACTIVITY Sidmouth Farm may have farm machinery going past the Airbnb at times, these are contractors who harvest and bale our crops (mainly in summer). It's all part of our farmstay experience. Guest access ENJOY SITTING AROUND THE FIREPIT The firepit and garden surrounding the Airbnb, along with the deck directly in front of the Airbnb is exclusively for you our guests. NOTE: Please check fire restrictions before using the firepit, you can find that on the Tas Fire website. RELAX IN THE SHADE We provide a shady seating area to enjoy a cool drink, read or nap on the grass under the large Blackwood trees to the right of the Airbnb. EXPLORE OUR FARM Feel free to roam over our 70 acre property, but please respect the space around our private residence. However, I'm more than happy for you to knock on our front door if you can't contact me in any other way. FEEDING THE ANIMALS If you would like to feed the animals please request it when booking your stay (no extra cost). 🐑🐔 Leave farm gates as they are, if a gate is shut please shut it straightaway behind you so that livestock can't escape, if it's open, leave it open, farm machinery has probably recently passed through. 😊 FUNGI FORAY: We have access to the bush/forest adjacent to our property, walk along the firetrail following the orange flags. Autumn is the season to find fungi and I regularly photograph beautiful fungi that I find in the forest. (see photos in outdoor space) Feel free to ask me to show you where some are located to start you on your fungi foray. I have been photographing and identifying these for over 10 years. BEWARE OF SNAKES Although it's a rarity to see snakes, keep a lookout at the ground where you are walking. If you see a snake, give it a wide berth, DO NOT get close to take a photograph. - ALL Tasmanian snakes are highly poisoness and are active in Spring (mating season) and Summer. The anti-venom is very expensive! Other things to note GOOD INTERNET: Considering we are about a kilometre from the highway our internet is very good. We even had a guest who was working remotely for two weeks and good internet connection was essential. HEATING: is via 2 remote control oil heaters that can be moved around the space. The Airbnb has double insulated ceiling and walls, plus double glazed windows. The ceiling fan can be reversed to push the heat down from the ceiling so that our guests are guaranteed to be warm during the cold winter months. To ensure you are warm and comfortable I will turn the heaters on before your arrival, if it has been sunny it will passively heat up as well. SINGLE BED: We are primarily catering for 2 people but in the event of a third guest we can put a single bed in the alcove where the dining room is situated. The dining table can be relocated within the spacious open plan living area near the kitchen. (You will need to request this on booking) BABIES AND TODDLERS: We can provide one portacot and highchair for a baby and a single bed for a toddler. A toy box is provided with toys that have been cleaned after each use. We can cater for a maximum of a young family of four (baby and child). I will ensure objects that could be a danger are placed up high or removed out of a child's reach before your stay. WATER: We are on town water so water isn't an issue but we have an eco waste system. This means that cream, milk or yoghurt can't be poured down the sinks or toilet. I just water it down and tip it outside on the grass. Oil, fat and butter cannot be put down the sink, please wipe out with paper towel provided. SEPTIC ECO SYSTEM: means sanitary items/nappy wipes cannot be disposed of in the toilet, please use the bin provided in the bathroom.
