Country Cottage On The City Doorstep

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway only 15 minutes from Christchurch city and airport. Located within a semi working horse breeding and training farm. You will be able pat any of the friendly horses who are grazing or stabled right beside the cottage. You will have your own pergola right beside the cottage and decorative pond where you can wine, dine and relax making use of the BBQ. The cottage is really warm with a log fire and heat pump adding to the fully timber built house. The space This is a newly built (finished December 2025) Fraemohs home meaning it's entirely built from interlocking New Zealand Pine timber. We have made a genuine attempt to be eco friendly showing respect to the land and others around us. We were initiall looking to be off the grid but this proved a bridge too far. On the other hand, we have our private bore for water (drilled down over 50 meters) , the beds were hand made from New Zealand Pine, the couch was also hand made by the owner both in his former owned furniture factories. We built on site the pergola, pond and planter boxes, hand dug the path along with installing the cast iron lamp which was first positioned at a nursery some 70 years ago. All this gives it great warmth and continues our eco friendly approach, you are welcome to dig out some potatoes or use any of the herbs. There is ample parking available which could be handy for towing vehicles. Adjacent to the cottage is the pergola which is a pleasant outdoor area with a dinning table and BBQ. The property is entirely wrapped with post and rail fencing along with multiple plantings. You may see trotting horses being trained on the property and youre welcome to inter act with such activities. There are friendly horses in paddocks around the cottage and often stabled in the barn 20 meters away. The chestnut one is called Jake, the black mare Fran and the older dark bay is Zak. Guest access Guests are welcome to wonder about the property be it within the stables or further down the lane to the training track. Within the training track there'll be several racehorses and some cattle, you're welcome to pat the horses are they're always pleased to see someone new. Just remeber the top wire may be "hot" so be wary of that Other things to note The property is only 5 minutes away from two provincial towns namely Rangiora and Kaiapoi, naturally there you'll find all the amendities and shopping you may require. An added advantage is the closeness and ease to Christchurch Airport as the new motorway starts down the end of Lineside Road which means you can be at the Airport within 20 minutes. The same motorway will get you to the city within the same time. If you turn left when leaving our property it will take you down to Kaiapoi which is about 3.5 kilometers down Lineside Road. There you will immediately find the Woolworths Supermarket and your right and further into the town will find cafes and restaurants, one of our favourites is Kaninga's Thai which is on the main street, towards the end of the main road on your right.
