Marienmünster is situated in an important cultural landscape with many places of interest: The historic Weser town of Höxter (14 km) invites you to stroll and enjoy. Even the journey there by bike or by car takes you through the unique, almost unspoilt nature of the Weserbergland and will inspire you. There you will also find the World Heritage Site of Corvey Abbey and Castle. Other attractive sights include the Fürstenberg porcelain manufactory, the Westphalian open-air museum in Detmold (the largest open-air museum in Germany), the historic centre of Detmold, Externsteine, Hermannsdenkmal, the artists' town of Schwalenberg and the Schiederstausee reservoir. Hameln, the Pied Piper town, and Bad Pyrmont with its beautiful palm garden can also be reached quickly by car. A highlight for families is the Godelheimer See leisure centre (16 km). Here you can swim for free, relax on the sandy beach and children can explore the many play and climbing equipment, the pump track or play beach volleyball. There is only a car park fee to pay. In Bodenwerder there is an attractive summer toboggan run with additional play facilities. We definitely recommend a cycle tour along the Weser towards Holzminden/ Bodenwerder or Bad Karlshafen, past Herstelle Abbey and the Skywalk.
