Welcome to Hammergaarden – Kårstua, an elegant and private apartment dating from 1910, with its own entrance and parking. Enjoy panoramic views of the sea and mountains, and from October to March, you can experience the magical Northern Lights. With spectacular views, close to activities, and the magical Northern Lights! Discover the Arctic landscape, North Norwegian culture, mountain hikes, skiing and fishing, while also benefiting from the proximity of the village and town amenities. Perfect for couples, families and nature lovers seeking tranquillity, comfort and authentic Arctic experiences in Vesterålen. The space At Hammergarden's common room, you stay in the oldest part of the house, built in 1910. The bathroom was completely renovated in 2021, but otherwise, you can both see and feel the history of the house in the walls and ceilings. It has a calm atmosphere, creates a space for recreation and rest, and provides energy for further experiences from life’s memorable moments, both big and small. The host family lives on the same property, but the flat is completely separate and offers full privacy. In the courtyard, there is a lively and pleasant environment with birds and animals, and for interested guests, it is possible to collect fresh eggs from the henhouse, stroll around the garden, pick berries in season, or sit on one of the benches and share good stories with someone you care about. The flat comprises an airy bedroom with a freshly laundered and comfortable bed (160 cm), a stylish and recently refurbished bathroom with a shower and washing machine, and a cosy vintage kitchen that is fully equipped for cooking. Outside, you can barbecue or use the fire pit, which is perfect for quiet evenings under the open sky. This is an ideal place for couples, solo travellers or anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable and atmospheric stay close to nature, while having everything you need within easy reach. It is also possible to enjoy the local community’s cultural life, with the town centre just a 20–25-minute walk away. From sunrise over the fjords to the magical Northern Lights in winter, Kårstua offers a unique combination of nature, tranquillity and authentic Arctic experiences – perfect for creating memories that last a lifetime. Guest access The guests have the entire place for themselves. By arrangement, guests can access other parts of Hammergaarden, where they can feed the hens or collect their own eggs when available, or fetch firewood from the woodshed to use for a bonfire, or pick berries and vegetables in season. Other things to note Google maps shows arrival via wrong street! When you cross the bridge towards Sortland, take the first exit in the roundabout, to the right. After 1-2 minutes of driving, turn left, a long gravel road up to the house marked with orange bread sticks. Hammergaarden is located 100 metres from the main road. The house is visible from the main road, a large, white house with a veranda, and a red barn/garage in the courtyard. When you get to the house, go in the door to the right, using the key from the key box.
