Beach Lagoon Accommodation The hatchery is an old prawn farm set on the pristine and deserted Amatikulu lagoon just off the freeway. Tick it off your bucket list when exploring the KZN coast and game reserves. The space The hatchery was a prawn breeding facility on a lagoon overlooking a deserted beach and nature reserve. It makes for a unique destination for any visitor to the North Coast. The facility has been "lightly" renovated - the end result is a unique blend of comfort and rustic cool. The hatchery is all about chilling out, letting loose, and reconnecting. Penny's Cottage is basically 2 "sides" adjoined by kitchen in middle with bathroom on either side; one side has larger room with queen and 2 singles, other side has 2 rooms, 1 with queen the other with 2 singles. We hope you like what we've done and enjoy your experience here. During your stay The friendly butlers are on site to help with local knowledge and assist wherever possible. Other things to note We are self catering; bringing your own supplies in is recommended. Low slung cars can scrape on the road in so leave the beemer at home for this one or take your time on the way in. Activites relax on the lagoon beaches or chill out in the gin tank or tonic pools overlooking the reserve, river, and sea Hire a “prawnfeeder” to paddle across the lagoon Forest trails walking along the lagoons beaches The Amatikulu Nature reserve kite boarding, windsurfing, or paddling mountainbiking trails swimming beach at Zinkwazi complete with Mahogany reef beach bar princes grant or eshowe hills golf courses are a stones throw away or if its just all too much enjoy a long leisurely lunch at the shak the butlers are available to assist, advise, and make your stay as comfortable as possible
