Archaeological excavations were carried out in 1963-1964. The beginnings of life date back to the early Iron Age. In the 4th century BC, it developed as the main urban center of the Valbona Valley. The area of 0.6 ha is surrounded by a stone wall. Rosuja played an important role in the natural trade route between coastal Illyria and Dardania. Rosuja is known for its natural mountain beauty. The main attractions are the landscapes, hiking trails and the nature itself of the "Valbona Valley" National Park. Key Points Valbona River: The Valbona River flows near Rosuja. Its clean and cold waters, often with a clear blue color, are a relaxing sight. Shoshaj Canyon: One of the deepest canyons in the area, it offers spectacular views. It is just below Rosuja, heading towards Bajram Curri. Valbona Waterfall: It requires a hike, but the waterfall is a very popular destination, especially during the spring and summer seasons when there is more water. Exploring and Hiking Valbona Pass: This is the most famous trail, connecting Valbona to Theth. Although it may not start directly in Rosuja, it is the main destination for those staying in the Valbona Valley. Local Hiking Trails: The area around Rosuja is surrounded by high mountains. Ask locals or guesthouses for advice on shorter, less frequented trails. Various Caves: The area has many caves, some of which require local guides to explore safely.
