Tent in Chalsa
Tent in Chalsa
Description
The tree camp is a 10×10 ft family tent on a raised wooden platform — proper bedding, not a sleeping bag on the ground. The washroom is a short walk. It's clean. It works. Chetna Farm keeps Apis cerana — the indigenous Indian honey bee — and Tetragonula iridipennis, the stingless bee, and practices natural and sustainable farming. The foothills of the eastern Himalayas are visible on clear mornings. It's a farm, not a resort. The mornings are loud with birds and bees. The nights are quiet. The space Chetna Farm has been operational since 1989 and we have been practicing natural and sustainable methods since 2017. We keep Apis cerana and Tetragonula iridipennis bees — two indigenous species managed without chemical inputs. The farm runs on natural farming principles: no synthetic fertilisers, no pesticides. The kitchen garden, pond, bee yard, and a tea garden are all on the property. The land borders the forest margin, in the foothills of the eastern Himalayas. Gorumara National Park is 20 minutes away. The Neora River is a 10-minute walk and Neora Valley forest is an hours drive away. Guest access the entire farm area Other things to note Cycling routes through local villages start from the farm. We have mountain bikes available. Gorumara National Park is 20 minutes by road — jungle safari can be made available on request. The Neora River is a 10-minute walk. New Jalpaiguri station (NJP) is 1.5-2 hours by road — shared jeeps run regularly from Chalsa. Airport transfers from Bagdogra (IXB) available on request.
