We are just a mile away from the center of Carmel-by-the-Sea and the beach. Step under the archway and through the garden gate onto a golden stone path that ushers you through a private garden setting to the front door of your updated Comstock post-adobe cottage. The path continues down a wide expanse of stone steps to the spacious patio with seating and a vintage fountain – sometimes flowering, sometimes flowing - flanked by perennial plantings and a mission-style fence framing a gorgeous view of the Carmel Valley foothills. Set on a half-acre lot in the sunbelt between Carmel Valley and Carmel-by-the-Sea, a riot of bougainvillea, azaleas and camellias thrive in the warmth of the sun, as do our guests. Guests may enter the cottage through the front door or via the locking gate off the dedicated driveway, where a motion-light will escort you in through French doors. Inside the updated one-bedroom, full-bath bungalow, guests may relax after a day of sightseeing or shopping, beach combing, business or Bach, Classic Cars or great golf in this fresh retreat, whose French doors open to a private garden patio with table and chairs. Plus plenty of storage for bikes, kayaks or art. The cottage has a complete kitchen, fully equipped, with plenty of cupboard storage and counter space. The sitting area houses a love seat, bistro table with stools, DVD player and a flat-screen TV. An expanse of windows opens to lush gardens and lets in the clear light for which Carmel is known by residents and revered by photographers. The bedroom hosts a comfortable queen-size bed with hand-pressed linens, extra pillows and comforter, plus a dresser, mirror, spacious closet, Internet access. Guests may walk just under a mile down Ocean Avenue, which rolls right into the sand at Carmel Beach, or into Carmel-by-the-Sea to wander the tree-lined streets and cobbled paths along specialty shops, art galleries and antiques salons, as well as an exceptional array of fine or fun dining options through bistros and bakeries, coffee shops and cocktail bars, tasting rooms and restaurants.
