This is the closest Airbnb to Mount Longonot National Park. It's a cozy, eco-friendly, minimalist, sustainable, open-plan cabin with one large room and a spacious bathroom, that has an amazing solar-water-heater-powered rain shower (a guest favourite) as well as solar powered TV, lights and regular sockets to charge all your small electronic devices with. Perfect as a romantic getaway, staycation for two, or for a solo traveler seeking peace and serenity. If you want a place to "get away from it all" and reset, this is it. We are approximately 1000 metres up the hill off Old Naivasha Road, 5 minutes before Longonot town when coming from the Naivasha town side, or 5 minutes past Longonot town when coming from the Maai Mahiu side. Roughly opposite HADO shooting range (which we highly recommend!) and directly opposite the road that leads to the old Suswa metre gauge railway station (at the Zebra crossing). Very specific directions will be provided once you book. Please carefully note the following; ❌ NO CHILDREN are allowed on the property, day or night, as our cabin is designed for adults - either as a couple or solo - only🙏🏾 ❌ There are no big shops, restaurants or supermarkets in the immediate (2-3km radius) vicinity of the cabin, so PLEASE COME WELL STOCKED with provisions you need for your stay. However, Naivasha town is only about a 15 minute short drive away. It has supermarkets, restaurants, and everything else you need to make your stay comfortable. There is, however, a tiny kiosk run out of someone's house, about a 10 minute drive, or 25 minute walk, further up the hill from the cabin, that has basics like sugar, sodas, coffee/tea sachets, long-life milk, bread, toothpaste, detergent and so on. Directions will be readily provided. I highly recommend this kiosk, as the experience of getting there is an adventure in itself (views, peaceful environment, farms, livestock and welcoming people). The shop owner (Bibian) is very friendly and helpful. ❌ Please note too that we DO NOT HAVE A MINI-FRIDGE YET, so items like fresh milk and so on cannot be stored in the cabin beyond a day. But we aver that this is part of the enjoyable experience of an eco-cabin. Getting back to the serenity and minimalism of sustainable life lived in nature. ❌ Since we are in the pilot phase of the Airbnb launch, system upgrades, landscaping, amenities upgrades and so on are ongoing, so please bear with us as we fine tune what we believe will be a superior product, that we are confident you will fully enjoy and return to visit over and over again. As of now we have NO WI-FI but we do have a small TV to which you can hotspot, bluetooth or cast to from your phone. Please note too that Safaricom and Airtel phone signals while generally good, can SOMETIMES not be the best. ❌ Since we are newly open, the plunge pool is NOT YET READY so please bear with us as we complete and perfect it in the coming weeks. ❌ Please note as well that we recommend a car to get to us, but the cabin is also very accessible during the daytime by public transport if you don't mind the 15 minute walk up the hill to us. The matatu stop/stage is called "Kwa Dam" and the matatu cost is no more than 70kshs from either Maai Mahiu or Naivasha towns. The area is very safe to walk in day and night, although visibility might be limited while walking at night, as the area is bereft of on-grid electricity for now. The dirt all-weather road to the cabin is very accessible even during the rainy season and even for low-clearance cars; big or small. Otherwise, we strongly believe that the seclusion is part of the attraction of the eco-cabin. You will be almost all alone with no neighbours, so you can fully enjoy the space as well as the stunning views, nature and occasional wildlife around you. The hills gets windy at night, so even though we provide a duvet and extra blankets, please bring some warm clothes with you! Things to do; ✅ Climb Mount Longonot. A truly spectacular climb that I believe every human being should experience at least once in their lifetime. ✅ Visit Hell's Gate National Park ✅ Visit Lake Naivasha - boating, wildlife and more. We highly recommend you visit Crescent Island where you can interact with wildlife at very close range. ✅ Practice your aim at Hado Shooting Range (opposite us on the other side of Old Naivasha Road.) ✅ Visit Naivasha town. A quaint town that still has many old colonial buildings. Plenty of dining options in the town, plus several supermarkets (Naivas, Powerstar) for you to do your household shopping in. ✅ Maai Mahiu town - 20 minutes drive away - has a Java House Express where you can get delicious meals from. We harvest pure, fresh rain water from the patio roof into our underground tank. We also use a biodigester and are 💯 percent off-grid, running on solar energy. Technically, except for food, one can live in the cabin for months or even years - sustainably - without need for anything else 🙃. Guest access When your book the property the entire cabin, parking area, firepit, patio, gardens, (future) pool and all other amenities are available to you FREE OF CHARGE, unlike many other Airbnbs in the area that charge extra for these.
