Georgie's Mill

Our gravel roads are tricky to navigate with small cars with all the water damage. *** This romantic getaway lies amongst the hills of the Thomas River valley, just 70km from the beautiful Hogsback. More than a century old, our little stone cottage tells the tale of a once-flour-mill and a dearly loved Aunty Georgie who called it her home for nearly 30 years. The space Like we mentioned before, The Mill is quaint and quirky, and a particularly unique space. Here are just a few things to be aware of, and to set you up for success: // The cottage is triple story, with the kitchen, living room, fireplace and deck on the main floor, a cozy basement bedroom and bathroom below, and an attic that sleeps two above. // You'll use a ladder to get to the attic, and go down a steep staircase to get to the bedroom below. Please be aware of this for the safety of your children and pets. // The water from the taps is rain water and is completely safe to drink. If you would prefer not to take the tap-water risk, bring some bottled water with you. // As part of the tranquility of the cottage, we (intentionally) do not have a TV. But we would highly recommend bringing a movie on your laptop for those crispy winter days. // We don't have a washing machine in the cottage. Please pack accordingly. // This is a farm cottage. If you are prone to allergies or hay fever, please be sure to bring sufficient medication with you. Guest access As guests you will have access to the entire cottage. It is completely private. There is a farm house just up the road from you, but no one lives there right now. The only people you will encounter is my very friendly brother who will be your on-the-ground host, as well as neighbouring farmers across the river. Other things to note The Mill is old, and comes with a lot of character. There is only hot water in the bathroom, and so you'll need to boil the kettle for hot water to wash dishes. The beauty of farm life comes with lots of little friends, mostly outside, but sometimes inside too. Farms are generally quite dusty, but we will always do our best to keep the Mill clean for you. If you are okay with these few small things, we promise you will fall in love with the quaintness of our little cottage.
