Enjoy a quiet off-grid weekend of solitude while exploring what life was like for Black Sharecroppers in Texas. The Root Living History Farm and Museum is a place to discover untold stories of freedom and resilience. Enjoy modern, primitive glamping that's less than 2 min from beautiful Lake Somerville, This is a total off-grid experience, a great way to truly unplug. The cabin is perfect for couples getting to know each other or perfect for a weekend detox and solitude. The space Guest have access to the entire half-acre property. There is an outdoor sitting area, open space for outdoor yoga and meditation. Deer frequent the area, rabbits and even wild turkeys. Feel free to take pictures but, do not hunt. The cabin is a studio-style space powered by a gasless generator. There is a full size bed with an extra thick memory foam mattress., a full-sized futon bed that can convert to a couch. There is a kitchenette area with snacks, a coffee maker, a hot plate, and a smoothie maker for those who are wanting to detox. The restroom area is separate from the cabin and is a rustic style amenity ( see photos). There is a solar shower bag, portable toilet, and a hand wash sink( bottled water is provided for showers and handwashing) Our space is energy efficient and environmentally safe. There are many ways to practice social good while staying here like donating a children’s book or a Black doll! We now offer more unique health and wellness products for purchase. Guest access The guest will be given a key on arrival. Other things to note I'm sorry, no pets are allowed. No smoking. No Drugs. Violation of these rules will be fined. Outdoor portable shower and toilet.
