Designed to make the most of the mountain views and natural virgin untouched bush-veld, Tented Camp offers 4 en-suite tented rooms, each Tent is built on raised wooden platforms. The platforms provide eco cooling by allowing natural air circulation via small gaps in the boards. Each tent is strategically placed for privacy and has its own bar fridge, tea/coffee making facilities and Braai stand. Ensuite bathrooms have a walk in shower & vanity and separate toilet. The space Tented Camp in a Nutshell! • The Island River Lodge is a private 8-hectare island surrounded by the Blyde River . • The islands landscape is unique with natural and untouched virgin bush and stunning vistas of Klein Drakensberg • Surrounded by 200 - 300 year old indigenous trees. • Trumpeter Hornbills, Pel’s Fishing Owl and African Fin Foot are just a few of the species to spot. • Sweeping views of the bush and Mountains from the tents. • Leisurely walks around the 8 hectare Island on paths along the riverfront. • Natural and Rustic finishings complimenting the surrounding bush. • Options to explore nearby tourist attractions either on a self drive basis or by booking from our activities list Guest access Tented Camp Facilities 4 ensuite Tents with mini fridge and tea making facilities . Bathrooms have indoor showers , toilet and vanities There is a communal Boma with Braai facilities and seating area in the main area of the Tented camp as well as private braai stands at each tent Each Tent is provided with there own cutlery and crockery and then there is the well-appointed Communal kitchen and indoor and outdoor dining areas The lodge also has Credit card facilities Tent camp does not have a shop and so please ensure that you bring all your own food and drinks, condiments, seasoning and such Other things to note Due to our location within 16 km of Hoedspruit, the Island is uniquely situated in the middle of many wonderful activities and things to do. We have a wide range of different activities both near and further afield to cater to an all-encompassing experience. Orpen Gate is within an hour’s drive, the Blyde River Canyon is a 10-minute drive away, and the start of the start of Panorama Route including The 3 Rondavals, Bourke's Luck and God's Window is an hour’s drive away and Big 5 Game drives a mere 20 minute drive way
