Forest Walks Studio

A modern studio appartment located on the edge of Tasmania’s wilderness area in central northern Tasmania. It is the perfect spot to explore the many walking tracks and magnificent forests of the Great Western Tiers, called Kooparina Niara, Mountains of the Spirits, by Tasmania’s first peoples. The studio is surrounded by wildlife, wallabies, possums, wombats and a quoll who strolls past about midnight each day. It looks out onto the surrounding mountains and is situated by Forest Walks Lodge. The space The studio has a queue size bed, a couch, a full kitchen with gas stove, oven, grill as well as a toaster and electric jug. There are pantry items for your use such as olive oil, spices, flour and sugar as well as breakfast ingredients including bread, butter, milk, tea and coffee. The bathroom has a walk in shower as well as a lovely deep bath. It is all on a level with easy access from your car through the side door so perfect for anyone with mobility issues. Although the whole property is off grid there is plenty of solar electricity for your needs. We also supply you with pristine mountain spring water for drinking and bathing, licensed by the local council. It’s a treat to wash your hair in such sweet water and it’s perfect for drinking neat. Parking is immediately alongside the cabin. Guest access The studio is yours for the duration of your stay. Forest Walks Lodge is just next door but you are unlikely to see anyone except in the nearby garden. You have a verandah to sit out and watch the wildlife and enjoy the evening sunsets. You are welcome to walk around the property and take the off site Rainforest Walk with its interpretive signage. If you want an in-depth forest experience you can also book for an interpretative walk with resident forest ecologist and consultant Sean Cadman at $200 per person. The property is located an easy day trip to Cradle Mountain and the Tamar Valley wine route. Another easy day trip follows the north-west food trail via 41degree Salmon Farm (the only sustainable salmon grown in Tasmania), Meander Valley Winery, Asgrove Cheese, various distilleries and Ghost Rock Vinyard and cafe.
